Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson announced Friday that he was undergoing a major medical operation after discovering a “serious” health issue.
Hanson made the announcement on his show, “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” and stated that he was presented with a “serious problem” that was difficult to diagnose. He will undergo surgery on Tuesday and take a break from hosting his show during his recovery.
“I’m having a major operation, and I’ve got a major problem and I’m gonna have a major effort to solve it and that’s all I can do,” Hanson said. “And I finally ended up going to the best medical center that I think that I know, Stanford Med, and the people there are wonderful. It’ll work out one way or the other.”

Hanson said many viewers noticed that he sounded hoarse and unwell. After nine months of testing, medical professionals recently discovered his ailment after he underwent a biopsy, prompting Hanson to decide to go through with the operation.
“I don’t want to talk about my own problems, but I’ve had people call me and say, ‘You don’t look well, you’re hoarse, or you’re coughing.’ But it’s been a nine-month odyssey because the problem I had for a nonsmoker and nondrinker was a rare type and very hard to diagnose, so it’s no one’s fault other than my own perhaps for not realizing why I was not getting well,” Hanson said.
The show’s co-host, Jack Fowler, will continue to host the show during Hanson’s absence.

Hang on man, I’ve done both, the world needs your wisdom.
Lord. You allowed Charlie to be taken from us. please don’t take the learned and great VDH from us yet. we sure continue to need him and i’m sure his family does too. if it please You, heal him from head to toe. guide his surgeons and caregivers. strengthen him as he recovers. In the Great Physician’s name i ask. Amen.
i’m glad he’s at Stanford for surgery. their surgeons are among the best (i’ve been helped twice there myself). they do a great job.
Or throat cancer.
Prayers 🙏 for your recovery and eventual RTD.
To be precise, the cabal doesn’t target intellect with their mind control. They go for your emotions.
“I am moved, every time I read it.”
so am i.
sorry for intruding on your thread, but thank you. that’s a VDH post from before i started following him—even before i became political. but, it really strikes home for me as my late dad was also a Marine on Okinawa—who survived, but never talked about it. this helps me understand.
Prayers up for a great man.....I sure hope he wasn’t vaxxed.
Please - no apology needed ! God bless the Soul of your Dad, and all of those Great Ones, now departed, who sacrificed so much, for Our Nation.
bless you and yours brother Freeper. Happy New Year to you.
Thanks + likewise !
Prayers for Mr. Hanson.
Amen to that. Mr. Hanson is a good man.
Prayers!
Amen.
I have read several books about children that were taken off the white people’s farms in Texas. Very interesting stories. Some never wanted to return to their former lives and many didn’t remember it. There is also the story about the woman that was taken in the late 1700s somewhere nearer the east coast and she walked back...800 miles. Very interesting reads.
His deep knowledge and clear voice is urgently required in the current flow of history.
Praying for his rapid recovery and swift reentry onto the public stage.
I squabble with victor quite a bit but I’m a daily listener and subscriber and he was early Trump for a former national review guy
I wish him the best
Man I thought that sinus thing sounded problematic last year
I even wrote him suggesting Levaquin if he could tolerate it
Offered to Jack to send a blister pack with a copy of my script
It is the Mac daddy of antibiotics for that
After that maybe hospital IV vancomycin
Sadly it’s far more serious
I can tell by the tone it’s potentially morbid
My gosh. Thank you. That was an extremely moving, and well written story. I have bookmarked it for reference.
Thank you.
Certainly !
They had one famous account: "Massacre on the Merrimack: Hannah Duston's Captivity and Revenge in Colonial America" and it is a remarkable story of a 51 year old woman taken captive during a raid where they brutally murdered 27 people. This is a summary from Google Books:
Early on March 15, 1697, a band of Abenaki warriors in service to the French raided the English frontier village of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Striking swiftly, the Abenaki killed twenty-seven men, women, and children, and took thirteen captives, including thirty-nine-year-old Hannah Duston and her week-old daughter, Martha. A short distance from the village, one of the warriors murdered the squalling infant by dashing her head against a tree. After a forced march of nearly one hundred miles, Duston and two companions were transferred to a smaller band of Abenaki, who camped on a tiny island located at the junction of the Merrimack and Contoocook Rivers, several miles north of present day Concord, New Hampshire.
This was the height of King William’s War, both a war of terror and a religious contest, with English Protestantism vying for control of the New World with French Catholicism. After witnessing her infant’s murder, Duston resolved to get even. Two weeks into their captivity, Duston and her companions, a fifty-one-year-old woman and a twelve-year-old boy, moved among the sleeping Abenaki with tomahawks and knives, killing two men, two women, and six children. After returning to the bloody scene alone to scalp their victims, Duston and the others escaped down the Merrimack River in a stolen canoe. They braved treacherous waters and the constant threat of attack and recapture, returning to tell their story and collect a bounty for the scalps.
Just crazy that this woman was able to do this to escape and avenge the murder of her infant.
