That’s how progress works. We didn’t need telephones at one time, until they became useful enough to become indispensible.
AI and data centers are quite possibly a force multiplier on human intelligence because it will crunch thousands of years of information in just a few minutes, freeing up mental resources that can be used for other things.

Such as?
So what? Force mulipier. For what?
This reminds me of the WE WONT BUILD ANY MORE AND LET OTHERS DO IT....SO WE CAN DO BETTER THINGS...
Like work at McDonald’s.

Telephones, airplanes, motor cars, etc do not think. AI is supposed to think like humans. That is where the hype is.
THE POWER & WATER DEMANDS OF DATA CENTERS ARE NOT A JOKE.
IT IS MASSIVE,
You forgot to mention that people got rich, and still get rich with the invention, and production of phones, just like the railroads, the automobile manufacturers, the aircraft manufacturers along with the airline industry, military weaponry, etc. If people keep thinking they can't get along without these things, as well as every new invention that comes along, then there is no end to people's dependency on these things.
You’ve really eaten the dog food.

Here the Grid is going to make you pay $1000.00 a month for this crap. And the windmill guys are gonna cause you to pay more as well. It’s not just their dime. They are taking resources at a discount.
how ‘bout them Chiefs?
