A ritzy Nantucket Christmas celebration erupted into mayhem as men decked out in “Ralph Lauren and Burberry” traded blows just moments after Santa Claus made his appearance, according to shocking footage.
The wild brawl broke out on Federal Street Saturday afternoon during the Massachusetts island’s 51st Annual Christmas Stroll, where hundreds had gathered to visit local businesses in one of America’s priciest small towns, the Nantucket Current reported.
In dramatic video shared with the outlet, about a dozen men — ranging in age from 20s to 60s — were seen arguing and shoving each other in the middle of the street before breaking into small groups, where the aggression continued to escalate.
“All of the sudden there were two groups,” a witness told KISS108 on Tuesday.
“It was kind of like the Jets and the Sharks from West Side Story, only in Ralph Lauren and Burberry. It was 20-somethings versus like 60-somethings.”
In one group, a young brawler could be seen pushing an older gentleman. In another, a young slugger sucker-punched a man in a snazzy brown trench coat in the back of the neck, prompting another person to leap onto the attacker’s back, the chaotic video showed.
One of the scrappers was then thrown to the ground, as an older man charged after someone much younger and tried to land a punch — all while a black SUV sat in the middle of the road.

I always heard Nantucket was for old money that didn’t want to (or need to) impress and the Vineyard was for new and flamboyant, with the Nantucket houses being in families for several generations.

When I was a yute, it wasn't even close to a fight unless there were brass knuckles or bats or red bricks involved.
My younger {11 year old} brother get hit in his forehead with a pointed flat rock {the kind we used to skip on water} it stuck there and he was covered in blood.
We walked him to the hospital {about 6-7 blocks away} where the doc, pulled it out and bandaged him and sent him home {on foot}.
NO lawyers got involved and no one went to jail and life went on.
The 50s were different times, not like the old West...but closer to then than to now.
