'Hypocrite' Mark Zuckerberg sparks backlash as his enormous new $300m 387-foot mega yacht goes viral

Mark Zuckerberg has found himself at the center of an embarrassing climate change flip-flop, thanks to his $300 million mega yacht.

The 41-year-old Meta boss, worth roughly $230 billion, has reportedly been burning hundreds of thousands of gallons of diesel fuel since launching his personal, 387-foot vessel last year.

The yacht, dubbed Launchpad, runs on four diesel engines that use about 291 gallons of fuel every hour, which allegedly emits 40 tons of CO₂ over that same period of time.

Zuckerberg, an outspoken advocate for climate change policies such as the Paris Agreement and scaling carbon dioxide removal technologies to limit global warming, has been roasted on social media over the yacht's massive carbon footprint.

'Another reminder that Net Zero is only for the peasants,' one person wrote on X next to a video of the massive luxury vessel sailing near Florida.

'Meanwhile ordinary people drive electric cars and recycle, because the planet matters. But for him, apparently, the planet doesn't matter,' another social media user added.

Others called the multi-million-dollar yacht the ultimate 'symbol of hypocrisy,' as Zuckerberg has spent more than $100 million funding climate advocacy and related initiatives through his philanthropic organization.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Meta, which owns Facebook, and Zuckerberg for comment.

Some critics of Zuckerberg's lavish mode of transportation noted that Launchpad was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to climate hypocrisy.

The mega yacht has been accompanied on its journeys by a 220-foot, $30 million support ship called Wingman, which can carry smaller boats, a miniature submarine for exploration and even a helicopter.

'Rich people when they say "we’re all in this together" then fire up four diesel engines,' an X user commented.

It shows he never really believed in that climate change crap, while demanding others make sacrifices for it.

Buy a small $500,000 condo on the Upper West Side of Manhattan

Not only would I NOT do this, I would not even visit the state.

Same cost as for the Trump Ballroom...except the Ballroom will serve the whole of the People of the United States.

Zuckerberg wants us to eat bugs and freeze in the dark.

291 gallons of fuel do not produce 40 tons of CO2.

No need to buy a mega-yacht. Simply rent/lease what you want for ever how long you want it. The interweb is full of yacht rental deals. And use an anonymous name.

You had me until you said condo in Manhattan…

I love NYC. I used to visit frequently on the "Megabus" that had a $1 one way promotional fare if you booked in advance. I'd leave at 7am and get home at about 11pm. But Megabus doesn't serve Boston anymore.

I would *not* want to live there but I could see myself living in the New Jersey or Connecticut suburbs.

I told Zuckerberg this more than once. “Buy yourself a Roman galley, Mark. Greenies who hate fossil fuels will be happy to row it for you.”

But Zuckerberg ignored me. Now look at the trouble he’s in.

"If I were a billionaire I wouldn’t buy mega yachts. Aircraft of every type, yes. Tasty vintage piston driven fighter. Maybe a F-86, too."

I would settle for a beautifully restored 1957 Chevy.

The spent a pile of money on a big boat he doesn’t really need.

Cui Bono?

How about every person involved up and down the supply chain that built it?
Engineer that desinged it.
Goobermint that taxed every step along the way.

And the foodchain that kicks in downstream.
Everybody gets to upgrade.

Rich people make commerce for lots of others.
even an arsehole like Zuck.
