Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, a psychiatrist and leading medical ethicist, warned that the slippery slope argument has proven alarmingly accurate.
“There is a kind of gruesome, relentless logic at work here, and this is why the logical ‘slippery slope’ argument is a valid argument,” Kheriaty said in response to the push.
“Dying With Dignity Canada,” one of the nation’s most influential pro-euthanasia organizations, has issued recommendations calling for so-called “mature minors” to be included in MAiD.
MAiD Now One of Canada’s Leading Causes of Death
Euthanasia in Canada has surged every year since 2016, dramatically so after the 2021 expansion allowing people with chronic illnesses or disabilities to be killed even when they are not terminally ill.
More than 15,000 Canadians died by MAiD in 2023, representing 4.7% of all deaths nationwide.
Roughly 1 in every 20 deaths in Canada now comes from doctor-administered suicide under the nation’s socialized healthcare system.
With mental illness scheduled to become an official standalone eligibility category in 2027, the pool could grow even larger.
But Kheriaty says doctors are already euthanizing people solely for psychiatric reasons.
“There have been at least a few cases,” he said.

Maryland lawmakers have voted to override Democrat Gov. Wes Moore’s veto of a bill creating a statewide slavery reparations commission, setting the stage for the state to formally study proposals ranging from monetary payments to tax benefits and tuition waivers.
On Tuesday, the Senate voted 31–14 to override the veto, while the House followed with a 93–35 vote, both clearing the required three-fifths threshold.
Moore, who is black, vetoed Senate Bill 587 in May.
The governor argues that Maryland had already conducted extensive reviews of its history related to slavery and racial discrimination.
Instead, Moore asserts that the state should focus on implementing policies aimed at narrowing racial disparities.
In a letter to Senate President Bill Ferguson, Moore pointed to multiple commissions launched over the past 25 years.
Those commissions have already included studies on lynching and Maryland’s broader history of slavery.
Ahead of Tuesday’s override vote, Del. Matthew Morgan (R–St. Mary’s County) criticized the measure on the House floor.
Morgan is accusing Democrats of emphasizing affordability in public messaging while advancing what he described as “race-bait handouts.”
“This bill betrays the original intention, the unifying event of the civil rights movement,” Morgan said.
“It’s immoral, and it’s fiscally ruinous to this state, and it sends a message to the generations out there now in Maryland that if you’re concerned about fairness, dignity, opportunity in this state — to flee Maryland.”
Del. Terri Hill (D–Howard County) urged lawmakers to move forward with the bill, saying the commission’s creation is a decision “we still feel is the right one.”
With the veto now overridden, Maryland will begin assembling the commission.
The commission is now tasked with considering a wide range of potential reparations proposals.
Options include official apologies, direct payments, property tax rebates, child-care support, debt forgiveness, and higher education tuition waivers or reimbursements.

The House voted Wednesday evening to pass Greene’s bill criminalizing child sex change procedures nationwide over the objections of four House Republicans.

A vast swath of Republicans warned the president to keep marijuana as a Schedule I drug, arguing the substance is a threat to public safety and has addictive risks for young people.

“Two police officers,” Miller continued. “Where were the others? Not there. Nobody was there.”

In July, Brown settled with the government to avoid losing $500 million in federal funding over anti-semitism on campus and terrorist-supporting students. Brown has previously promoted Kharbouch, who is an antisemitic member of their Students for Justice in Palestine. He’s also the assistant to Professor Beshara Doumani, a professor with ties to a terrorist-linked university, a professor who’s made his way into the curriculum of one million high school students.
After going on a leave of absence from Brown in 2021, Doumani was president of Birzeit University from 2021 to 2023, a school in the West Bank where students, who were members of Hamas, were arrested for participating in terrorist plots. Their alumni also include convicted terrorists Marwan Barghouti and Kamal Nasser.

The Pro Life Campaign has warmly welcomed last night’s defeat of Paul Murphy’s motion to restore a Private Members’ abortion bill, which lapsed on the dissolution of the last Dáil.
The Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) (Amendment) Bill 2023 will not now proceed to committee stage as Murphy proposed, after 73 TDs voted against its reintroduction and 71 voted in favour.
Commenting on last night’s outcome, Eilís Mulroy of the Pro Life Campaign said: “We are greatly encouraged by the result. The radical bill, if reintroduced and passed into law, would have among other things permitted abortion on request throughout the entire nine months of pregnancy. The bill specifically mentions the “decriminalisation” of abortion and it would also have removed the life-saving three day wait before an abortion.

Last week the Society of Family Planning released updated abortion data through its #WeCount project. The latest update contains both state and national abortion data through the first six months of 2025. Unfortunately, the news is not good for pro-lifers.
According to the WeCount data, over 591,000 abortions were performed in the first six months of 2025. This represents a 1.1 percent increase when compared to the first six months of 2024.
The WeCount data provides some important information on how policy changes impact the incidence of abortion. Two state Medicaid programs have recently started to fund elective abortions. Nevada’s Medicaid program began covering elective abortions in mid-December of 2024, and Delaware’s Medicaid program started covering elective abortions as of January 1, 2025.
Unsurprisingly, there has been an uptick in abortions in both states. When the first six months of 2025 are compared with the last six months of 2024, both Nevada and Delaware saw their abortion numbers increase by between 8 and 10 percent. This is consistent with a broad body of political science, economics, and public health research that shows that taxpayer funding of abortion increases abortion rates.

In Ostia, just on the edges of Rome, in late November, human feces were found strewn throughout the San Nicola di Bari Church. A week later, at a chapel next to Rome’s Stazione Termini (the main railroad station, where migrants hang out), priests discovered feces and urine all over the place, including on top of the altar.
A Catholic church and a chapel at Rome’s busiest train station were recently desecrated within a week of one another, with an act of reparation being performed in one and the other being closed after the sacrilege.

Just days after the first desecration, urine and human excrement were also found in multiple corners of a Catholic chapel, including the altar, at the Termini Railway Station, Rome’s main train station, which frequently draws Catholic pilgrims traveling to the Eternal City, according to Italian media. After this desecration, the chapel was temporarily closed, but enough faithful volunteered to watch it, allowing it to reopen.

This is the inevitable consequence the moment campus quads were allowed to morph into open-air terror rallies, from the moment chants for intifada were tolerated and even encouraged, and from the moment administrators decided calls for Jewish death qualified as protected speech. Last year, this same Hillel was vandalized with “Khaybar” (an annihilationist chant evoking Muhammad’s mass slaughter of Jews), threats against the West, and extremist symbols—clear warning shots that were ignored. I had a root extraction a couple of months ago after a capped tooth broke off at the gum line. Tylenol and ibuprofen weren’t relieving the pain much and it got so bad at one point that night that my eye hurt. I swabbed 30% DMSO on the gum and put a couple of drops in the extraction hole and the pain was gone in about 15 minutes. The inflammation was significantly reduced as well. I applied it 3-4 times a day and was able to cut back on the OTC pain relievers. I don’t suppose you have any DMSO handy? The only downside is that the relief only lasts about 4 hours.
