A Canadian radar technician was mauled to death by a pair of polar bears as he took photos of them while working at a remote Arctic outpost, it emerged this week.

I knew someone, Timothy Treadwell, who studied bears and was killed by a grizzly. Wild animals are wild and are unpredictable. Very sad all around.
While I believe I can take a polar bear two falls out of three, two polar bears against just me would require redoubling my effort. AND I didn’t know polar bears could lurk.
Polar bears eat anything and everything. Those cutesy polar bear videos you see are captured on long telephoto lenses. The photographers are behind fences and protected with 12ga shotguns with specialized bear slugs.
Stay away from the f***ing wild animals. I’ve seen tourists in Yellowstone approaching moose with their cameras. Do not do this. Bison are worse than moose. You read about tourists getting killed in Yellowstone every so often. Polar bears are vastly worse and if they see you they will kill you. This ain’t a Disney movie.
He should have tried harder to stay of the bear’s radar.

This reminds me, in the 1980s, 11 year old boy swam into the polar bear enclosure in the Prospect Park Zoo in New York City. Unfortunately he was attacked by two polar bears and died. I remember the NYSE traders had a very dark but funny joke about it but I can’t remember it. Does anybody else remember that?
Weird. Just a night or two ago I gave thought to asking AI what it would be like to be mauled to death by a bear, except it was a black bear, the polar opposite.
I never *did* ask, though. Poor guy. Sorry.
