THINKING OF MOVING

Posted on 11/06/2025 12:28:20 PM PST by 7thson

I have some questions that I want to run by my fellow Freepers, but a little context first.

The man who put a $45,000.00 bounty on Pam Bondi - Tyler Maxon Avalos - was released with no bail though "under strict conditions: a GPS ankle monitor, nightly curfew, restricted internet use, and mandatory mental health treatment. He is barred from possessing firearms or alcohol and cannot leave Minnesota while awaiting trial."

The man who threw a sub sandwich at a Federal LEO, today was found not guilty of a misdemeanor.

I live in Virginia and after Tuesday, I see this state on a fast track in becoming NYC, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, etc. I see lawlessness coming big time in Virginia - in Richmond, the Norfolk area, and the Northern Virginia Metro area.

I am now thinking of moving to Tennessee, My questions - am I running away from the problem? By moving, am I giving up? By moving, am I just making it easier for the lawless Dems to import more criminals in Virginia?

It's beautiful around Driggs, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and close to the Tetons and Yellowstone.

North Idaho is world's different from Southern Idaho. We are on the subranges of the Rockies and close to big Montana/Idaho/Canada mountain ranges -- the Cabinets, Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges are amazing. Some of the most primitive remaining country in the USA is in and around the Cabinets in western Montana.

North Idaho is getting crowded. Big money moving in, growth and subdivisions everywhere, and prices took a huge leap during and after COVID. It's really been discovered since COVID. My mom was born here in 1927 and we visited her folks a lot when I was a kid on long trips from NYS. So I've seen all the horrible changes. But, when the country grows from 150 million people to 340 million, those things happen. When I was a kid, the towns in Idaho still exuded that late 1800s low-key, hard-working western charm of logging, mining, and ranching towns. Now most places look alike with lots of tourist, superhighways and chain stores.

There are quite a few Amish in Montana and North Idaho. I was in the wonderful "Miller's Country Store" in Sandpoint ln Tuesday. Delightful place filled with hard-working and kindly Amish.

Here are three shots from Tubbs Hill in Coeur d'Alene the past few days. If you ever get up this way, give me a shout!

Thanks!

I’ve lived and worked in Knoxville, Nashville and Chattanooga once upon a time. Now that Nashville and Knoxville are overflowing and stuck in traffic gridlocks, it’s true that Chattanooga is turning into a new magnet for blue state escapees.

We born-and-raised-here locals make a huge distinction between refugees like you and those who arrive with noses in the air looking down on us ignorant inbred uncivilized hillbillies and aiming to remake our once genteel ways while behaving rudely and crudely and peppering every sentence with at least five F-bombs.

Yes, it’s true the whole country has changed. Well, mostly. Which is why I:m headed to Cajun Country, which is far less attractive to blue staters and has amazing real estate deals. I’ll be living a block from the beach (up in the chenier in a house untouched by Hurricane Ida) on Louisiana’s only barrier island. Gonna be catching redfish and blue crabs and living the gumbo life me, comme ca.

Goodbye dreary old mountains, hello Gulf!

We moved from CA to TN (small town just west of Knoxville) in 2010. We love it. No “diversity” issues that we’re aware of.

Traffic IN Knoxville sucks, but it’s fine here. Have heard that Chattanooga is one of the highest, if not the highest, for crime. Nashville is going woke — or so we’ve heard.

The conviction being overturned for the sandwich thrower seems correct to me. A sandwich is not a weapon and we should not allow the government to classify it as one.

I disagree. It was a crime, albeit a misdemeanor, and warrants a very light sentence, like $1. However, to call it not a crime raises the issue of what else can be thrown and not be a crime? A doughnut, water, beer, a frisbee, a knife ... It should be "no, you cannot do that" to throw ANYTHING. There should be no matter of degree.

When they impoverish themselves they will come after the assets and lives of the rest of us. With a Democrat in the White House and a House Majority in a few years I see can the Communist states sending large raiding armies to neighboring states that have not succumbed to the Red(that’s LEFT WING) nonsense and getting no opposition from the Feds. The Constitutional States really do need to build up or establish and build up their State Militias in arms and training. I would be favourable to retaining the real estate tax here in Florida if it were to be redesignated for the Florida State Militia.

I'm in northern Colorado. Sometimes, I feel like moving up to Wyoming, but we have a good Sheriff, Steve Reams here.

I bought a T-shirt to help Winsome out
