Restaurant App Recommendations Because Mine Have Turned HORRIBLE
Self | November 1, 2025 | PJ-Comix

Does anybody have any recommendations for restaurant apps that have NOT turned into sick jokes? I say this because I have a bunch of fast food restaurant apps on my cell phone and lately they have all turned HORRIBLE with high prices. Oh, yeah, on the BK app they offer BOGO Whoppers. Sounds good? Right? WRONG! The offer is for IMPOSSIBLE Whoppers which are NOT burgers because they are NOT real meat thus making it IMPOSSIBLE for me to eat.

I checked my McD app yesterday and on the Extra Value Meals EVERYTHING was expensive. You can forget about the days of one dollar cheeseburgers. Long gone.

Same story with most of my other apps. The "deals" are either expensive or really lame. A couple years ago Wendy's offered $1 Dave's single burgers and $2 Double Daves which were good deals. Now the app offerings are mostly in the LAME category.

Sometimes Sonic Burger has good deals but when I click on them, most of the time it says my local Sonic does NOT offer that particular deal.

KFC did have some good deals last year with BOGO chicken sandwiches but I no longer see that.

Anyway, long story short... Are there ANY fast food restaurant apps that offer good or at least decent deals. Oh, and please spare me the lectures on eating processed food.

Also I rarely see fast food coupons anymore whereas ten years ago I saw them and used them all the time. The best deals I had were the electronic gift cards discounted to 50% which existed briefly back around 2019. For places like Golden Corral and Einstein Bros..

McD’s app used to have really good deals. You could pretty much always get a BOGO coupon which made swinging through the drive through still somewhat affordable. But lately even those deals are going away. Now they are 20% off $10 or more or some such nonsense. McDs was the only app for a restaurant that I actually used. Not anymore.

I don’t know if on apps, but IHOP and Appleby’s offering what sounds like good deals in World Serie commercials. Although none of the deals includes a drink, which no doubt is $4 cup of coffee or soda.

But as far as recommendations go I use Upside which provides gasoline and some restaurant discounts.

It’s the same all over.

Our favorite restaurants are all now about $50 to eat for two people. Used to be half of that.

The Fast Food places cost what the sit-down restaurant used to charge....................

Oddly enough, we have only recently gone back to Arby’s, due to coupons now arriving at our mailbox without needing a local paper to get them. I guess they finally noticed no one bought the paper.

My wife found out that most of the same coupons could also be printed out on our printer from an online site. Those worked for us, too.

We were also surprised that Arby’s let you buy up to six of the same deals off one coupon, so a “Buy 4 Classic Roast Beefs for $10” means you could get 24 for $60. We just got eight sandwiches, but kept the others in the refrigerator.

I will try to find out that coupon flier app and post it here.

Do note you sometime have to just go to the restaurant website. Shake Shack offers BOGO this week using “SPOOKY” as the promo code. The current sandwich is their Double Stack (two beef patties). Last week was their Chicken Shack.

If you dine frequently at the places you mentioned, the app I recommend is WebMD and the op is coronary bypass.

I don’t bother with any place that only gives value through an app.

Put apps behind you and live without them. Your life will improve greatly.

Go to Whataburger and buy any item at regular price. Do the survey on the receipt (very easy) and write the number given at completion on your receipt. This earns you a free Whataburger with the purchase of a medium fry and medium drink. Total cost for this lunch in Jacksonville TX is $5.39 (sandwich, fries, drink). Repeat as often as you like. Deal is good for 30 days after you take the survey at any Whataburger restaurant.

Go to the grocery store, buy some groceries and cook for yourself.
There's no better way to save money.

Beef sausage and an oven roasted vegetable medley twice a week is two days of cheap eating.
Other simple, nutritious meals easily provide a means of savings.

I use a basic text messaging app. My wife sends me a text message when dinner is ready.

Casseroles and soups are easy to make.

Throw stuff into a baking dish or pot.

Stick in an oven or place on a burner.

With all the fast food apps you have, are you looking/hoping for the best volcano experience?

Fast food places depended on cheap labor - moms working when kids were in school and high school kids working until close.

Moms used to usually have husbands that paid most of the bills.

High schools used to get out earlier, allowing the high school kids to get to work just when moms had to head home to care for young ones.

The restaurants have added highly profitable breakfast service that can’t rely on moms with young children or high school kids.

The politicians have decided to buy more votes [~$15/hour minimum wages, PPACA] with employer money.

The era of cheap fast food restaurant labor is over.

The era of cheap fast food restaurant food is over.

You're talking to Mr. Air Fryer. In the past 4 years I have probably purchased at least two dozen air fryers for both personal use and as gift items for friends and relatives. Right now I have four air fryers of different sizes in my home so I cook at home using them all the time. Most recently I prepared Char Siu air fryer chicken and vegetables this week. Enough for 2 days worth of food. For Thanksgiving, on top of the smoked turkey I will prepare on the Weber grill, I will also be preparing air fryer Char Siu turkey and veggies. I also do air fryer Char Siu Chinese pork ribs, French Fries, home fries, etc.. So I hardly rely on fast food all the time. Most of my food is cooked at home such as the King Oscar kippers and eggs I just now finished for breakfast.
