Will SNAP benefits not be issued in November due to the government shutdown? My cleaning lady, a cancer survivor receiving SNAP (she desperately needs it) just asked me, and I don't know. Does any FReeper definitively know?
BS. All the legal immigration has replaced US workers at the top end and the bottom end of the labor mkt. food stamps are another chamber of commerce cheap labor subsidy.
It depends on the state. Republican governors seem to be more likely to cover it.

The work she does for you is a great help, when someone is too sickly to work a real job but needs extra income, it is very close to impossible to find some part time work that allows them complete flexibility and easy indoor work conditions that accommodates their ups and downs yet supplies them with extra dollars, you are already greatly enhancing her life.

Get a clue. The ONLY reason to import people to the USA is to be increase the labor supply in order to reduce wages. There is no other reason for it. These imports and wage depressed citizen workers receive subsidies in many forms.
If Walmart raised prices 1% their employees would no longer need food stamps.

There was a time about 20 years ago when a person who got one state sponsored (taxpayer funded) benefit in Maryland was eligible for several others without even completing any more basic information forms. Is that still the case?. I tried to look it up, but only came across a wide variety of taxpayer provided benefits for Marylanders.
Yesterday morning on DFW channel 4 news they did a story on local food bank distribution. It was pallets of food in a huge parking lot. Along two sides were vehicles lined up for food many if not most were fairly new pick up trucks.
There is part of the problem.
