Will SNAP benefits not be issued in November due to the government shutdown? My cleaning lady, a cancer survivor receiving SNAP (she desperately needs it) just asked me, and I don't know. Does any FReeper definitively know?
Apparently it is already too late, as of the 27th, to get it on the 1st, even if the Democrats relent and vote cloture on a SNAP spending bill, which they won’t.
Thank you for your thoughtful idea. I have been urging her for a while to use more beans, as they contain a lot of protein. And then I’d have to get her some recipes for them, too.
I also know a veteran widow of a Marine vet who is on SNAP. She doesn’t get much, but depends on it. My wife is planning some meals for her next week.
No, you haven't.
You are a bitter, racist, hateful person who likes to gripe at people.
I really doubt you have given a stinking thing in your life.
What do I do with "my money"? Send our cubs to school.
I’ve seen that very thing in my town. Anybody with a car payment seems to expect free food.
P. S. Back in 2020-21, they were calling some of the give-away packs “Trump boxes.” I was acquainted with a homeless guy that would often pull 2 shopping carts behind him. I saw him over at the exit to the food give-away. I told him about it. He said they wouldn’t give him anything because he didn’t have a car.
And the Social Security COLA is 2.8%, while food prices are up 15-40%, and Medicare B is up 11%.
“I really doubt you have given a stinking thing in your life.”
That comes from telling subconscious self guilt right there... Period.
“I don’t, so you don’t”
Wrong... So do not call me a liar false Christian. Look at the flack I am getting for being honest. I obviously have no reason to lie because I already have nothing to lose because I have been honest about my steadfast principles no matter what consequences.
And trying to spin this 180 degrees is a leftist tactic. Why are you spinning it from what it is? I’m not...
Exactly right... Things are just getting worse.
Wow, you came here to help someone and became a punching bag. That’s too bad.
Racist?

Openurmind to tumblindice
See # 69 you ignorant genius. You absolutely do not know the facts. You are even using scripture to further an absolute lie based on pure hate and racism.
What about WHITE AMERICAN CITIZENS, Military Families, Military Veterans, who need them even though they worked hard ALL THEIR LIVES and PAID THEIR DUES?

Yeah it is absolutely not right. “Compassion” for fellow man is not a thing here.
She won’t get any SNAP unless the shutdown ends.
Good links and song. My wife and I plan on helping our dear friend. She relies on SNAP.
Often here, it’s hard to avoid the suspicion that some of the Freepers drink-and-post...
Sounds like he already does help her.
Good for you... I have bunch this month to share with. Close to home isn’t it? I am ashamed of this myth an misconception that has been trending and the “survival of the fittest” consensus... Is this really who we are?
It depends on what state is resided in by the SNAP participant. SNAP is state funded and re-imbursed federally. The smart states fund the system up front and seek reimburse later. But... not all do this.
So if it’s NY one can bet that idiot Hochul et cie want their fed money up front. They would NEVER help fund their own constituents of the poor and SNAP eligible.
Once the government is involved in charity, it is poisoned.
Once you are approved, you don’t have to see an actual person to get your benefits. It becomes a magic genie. A weird mental thing happens. These become YOUR benefits. You DESERVE them. This isn’t someone helping you, this is the government giving you what you DESERVE!
In the past charitable food distribution was done by private organizations. These organizations would check on you, take a personal interest in you. Further, you had to look a person in the eye everytime you received assistance. They were GIVING you food out of their charity, not because you deserved it, but because you needed it.
That leads to an entirely different mindset. You don’t WANT to be needy. You will take action because there is a nugget of shame involved...and there should be. If you are able bodied, food assistance should be temporary, until you get your act together.
All that being said, I would tend to favor SNAP benefits for able bodied people to have a predetermined time...maybe max out at three months. IF you are able bodied and still need benefits after three months, mandatory community service...starting with picking up trash...is required. If you are disabled, you need to have a caseworker check on you every six months. Depending on your level of disability, you may be required to do some work in order to maintain benefits.
Holy tuna salad on day-old Wonder Bread. “Senate Dems have
now voted “12 times” to not fund the food stamp program, (SNAP).
<><>Bottom line, the well has run dry.
<><>there will be no food benefits issued November 01.
<><>Dems can continue to hold out for healthcare for illegal aliens
<><>and gender mutilation procedures for grammar school kiddies
<><>or simply vote to reopen the government,
<><>so mothers, children, and the most vulnerable, can get boxes of tax-paid Cocoa Puffs.
