Maybe POTUS Trump raises it to $125,000 since they wish to waste his time.

As someone who has a startup do you want to hire talent to do the development at a bargain price? Or do you want to entice talent with stock options? That’s the issue.

Now, downstream, years after the startup has succeeded, the Indians will go home and start their own competing enterprises. The Americans, now wealthy, will start their own companies employing yet more Americans. Which is the outcome that’s better for America?

will make it difficult for many employers to hire and retain skilled foreign workers.

Ain’t that too damn bad.

Make it 150k.

Seven US lawmakers, including both Democrats and Republicans, have written to President Donald Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, urging them to withdraw the $100,000 fee on H-1B visas. They warned that the recent changes could harm the country’s innovation-driven economy and weaken its global competitiveness.

Good idea. Scrap the 100K and make it 300K!

I'm on an IT team of 30 people and 20 of them are foreign, mostly from India. On the client side, the team is is smaller, but half of them are Indian. I like my teammates, but I like my countrymen more.

The general consensus amongst lobbiests is that the H1B crackdown will not be an issue for very long. Status quo will return.

I wonder what percentage of foreign workers are actually better than any US citizen they could hire? I think it’s much more about cheaper than better. The 100K fee eliminates that factor.

“ In a joint statement, they said that while the H-1B visa system needs reform to better align with American values and workforce needs, the new rules — particularly the $100,000 annual fee — will make it difficult for many employers to hire and retain skilled foreign workers. ”

__________

Good. That’s the intent. Hire and retain American workers.

You know what doesn’t hurt startups - hiring AMERICAN workers!

Most of these startups are probably nothing more than schemes set up by the left to bring in more invaders. They’re trying every trick in the book to get rid of white people of European descent, and they can’t do that without importing hordes of invaders first.

If the startups need foreign workers to succeed, they should move to those countries and open the startup. They never will.

Seven US lawmakers, including both Democrats and Republicans, have written to President Donald Trump...

535 - 7 = 528

528 US lawmakers, including both Democrats and Republicans, DIDN'T write to POTUS. The majority wins...if it's "our democracy".

...could...

A word that magically transforms itself into 'would' at the hands of seven US lawmakers.

I do not believe that foreign workers are ‘better’ than domestic, American workers...even in STEM occupations. The only reason for US companies to continue ringing this bell is their never-ending quest for cheaper labor.
Make sure the foreign folks cost just as much as domestic folks. Keep the playing field closer to level.
Make that fee $150k, or even $200k...

So then Congress should do it’s job, pass the reform and then the fee can be addressed. Until then keep it in place.

If you have a job, a job THAT ONLYA H-1B NON CITIZEN, is the only person in the whole wide wide world who can do that job. Then you should be more then willing to pay the price for them.
