Ok, just heard it has no gpu acceloration- thats a no go for me. I know there are videos on gpu passthrough, but they are out of my league tech-wise...
Winboat is a good idea, but linux is still not there when it comes to running windows programs it seems unfortunately.

OK, I am hoping the Debian version will run on Ubuntu/Mint because Appimage is not secure. I quit using Appimages a few years ago... In fact Mint dropped default support for Appimages several years ago for this reason.

“.deb should work-”
That is what I am hoping too. Although I don’t need or use any MS products anymore it would be nice to know. I “just might” pull out my almost forgotten copy of ‘Hidden and Dangerous” to see if it works... :)

thi gs like wine, lutrix etc wq5ched but w9ndering Looks much like my somewhat quick typing with stiff arthritic typo-fingers until i correct the words. Meaning "Looks much lilke my tytpiucal typicig withg...until i cofrredct it." (use QuickPaste for phrases like "stiff arthritic typo-fingers"). Maybe you are on a smartphone.

Now to find a consultant who can use linnex. They all use either MS or Apple.
They find brave to be a step too far.

Our mainframe was Linux so I have about 20 years of experience on it. The GUI? Not very much.

I’ll let you know with my CNC stuff. The cost of windows at $100 is not a concern when my CNC package is at $17,000. I’ll dig out an older, but still powerful, laptop and test using Ubuntu. PM me so I can get your direct line...

Good point. My CAD CAM stuff is very graphics intensive. Especially when I’m doing surfacing. I’m still going to try when winter kicks in and I’m stuck indoor. But probably not worth the time when the cost of windows is insignificant compared to the cost of my software.

This is news? WINE is MORE THAN 30 years old. And virtualization to let you run AN ENTIRE WINDOWS OS under Linux (or Mac), which by default means you can run ANY WINDOWS (or Mac) PROGRAM, is almost 20 years old.
To: Paal Gulli
You clearly didn’t watch the video to see how Winboat works.
