Florida authorities released body cam footage on Monday that appears to show a dog leading a deputy sheriff to a woman reported missing by her husband that night.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office posted footage of the September 25 incident on Facebook on Oct. 6. The video begins by showing a man at the door of a home in Destin, Florida, a town about 50 miles east of Pensacola.

The man tells Deputy Devon Miller that his wife has been missing for an hour that evening. A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said in an email that the woman is 86 years old, but declined to provide the couple's names.

"She just takes that dog, but she never takes more than 10 or 15 minutes," he said. "It's almost an hour now. It's over an hour now."

The video then shows Miller returning to their car and driving off before spotting the loose canine, which the sheriff's office identified as "Eeyore." Miller then gets outside to greet the dog before following it.

"Where's your mama?" Miller says to the dog. "Show me where your mama is?"

Eeyore then leads the deputy to the missing woman, who is near grass. The video does not show the woman, but Miller describes her to the sheriff's office as lying on the sidewalk, "alert and conscious."

That’s a good story. Poor guy was worried, but I like how they engaged the dog to find her.

Good thing he did not follow the usual LEO instinct and shoot the dog.

I hope that ended well.

I walk every morning for about 1.5 mile. Never go without my phone, which allows my husband to track me. We are seniors and keep tabs on each other like that.

I am assuming this woman tripped and hurt herself. If her husband was tracking her, he could have located her himself.

We also have pictures of each other’s vehicles stored in our phones in case a Silver Alert would become necessary.

If one of us is off alone on a long drive, the other often first takes a photo, so we have a record of what clothing is being worn.

When my wife works outside, she has four sets of eyes on her
Big dogs. They can clear the fence (4’). They are protective of her because she yells at them when they get rambunctious. I just say ‘off’ and they lay down.

I guess they only love me for my ribs....I can do some spectacular ribs.

My first husband always trained our dogs to “find mom” for when I inevitably got a little lost berry picking or mushroom hunting.

People think that "the police won't do anything for 24 / 48 hours.

That is incorrect when it comes to children and seniors.

We had a boxer when I was a kid. She was extremely protective over my brothers and me, never letting even an adult neighbor, that she knew, in our backyard if my parents weren’t there.
One day, I don’t remember what I did, but my Dad spanked me. As he was walking away our boxer nipped him on the butt.
That caused my Dad to love our dog more and caused me to love my Dad more!

Thanks. Just keepin’ it really for us old forces.

Another thing I do is keep a walker under our bed so it’s handy if needed. Thankfully, it has been employed only once by each of us.
