A Reddit post showing how one woman was rewarded for more than a decade of service at her job has struck a nerve online.
The post by u/BigZee004, shared to the subreddit Mildly Infuriating, has received more than 42,000 upvotes since it was shared on October 1.
The viral image shows what the poster’s girlfriend was given for 11 years at her company: a single mini candy bar tied with a “thank you” tag. In tiny print, the tag reads, “We appreciate your dedication and loyalty over the past 11 years.”
The poster added in the comments: “This was in lieu of an increase. Which makes it more insulting.”

Thousands of Reddit users shared similar stories of lackluster recognition.
“Is 11 years significant? I would have thought 10 years would be when you expect a little more,” one user wrote.
Another commented, “I had my 10 years of service some months ago. I did not even realize at first until someone asked me how long I had been working there. Got no gift or notification at all.”
A third added, “My partner got a sticker for his hard hat for 15 years.”

...or a Chunky. Remember those?
Ah, days of old when minicomputers ruled the world. I loved the PDP-11.
Who gets any recognition at an 11-year work anniversary?
Kudos to the company for remembering it at all. (Plus, few people expect a salary increase on a work anniversary.)
No. Cross IIRC.
After 25 years I got to pick out my own prize from a list.I picked an upscale knife set that I still have to this day. That plus a luncheon where everyone who had an anniversary was honored. The only draw back was that I had to sit at the same table with the CEO so I had to watch my P’s and Q’s.
Then a year later I got laid off with 25 others from IT, but that’s another story altogether.
Did she work from home?
Jewlery box for 10
Mikita cordless drill kit for 20
Wool blanket for 25
Zilch for 30 (was still in COVID mode in early 2020s)
Gave jewelry box to stepdaughter.
Still use drill (works well).
Cats sleep on wool blanket (sometimes throw up on it).
Life is generally good.
Lazy nitwits then use it for their AI generated slop articles.
Not a peep from the media or the leftardas......
When people took the first voluntary buyout in 1990, I was working at SHR. We raided areas where people had left - taking MicroVAXen, chairs, VT220s/320s, etc and using them in our group.
One time as we were "requisitioning" some MicroVAX gear, building security saw us from the end of the building and yelled "Hey you, put all that back!". The systems were on wheels and we just pushed them to their new home, albeit quickly.
When a couple friends and I left DEC later, we walked by some empty cubelands - PCs and MicroVAX had been there for a least a year and hadn't been turned on. We made the right decision repurposing the systems we did to help our group.
How anout a muffin stump?
I still have my RSTS/E quick reference guide.

If it was a Snickers bar, there may have been a message in that.
Me too! I also have the PDP-11/45 Programmer’s Card. Woof woof!
