An Oregon federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration from sending the National Guard into Portland, as the city contends with hundreds of protestors at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.
It's a major blow to Trump, who called Portland a 'war-ravaged' city under siege by Antifa terrorists, when he announced last week that federal agents would be deployed there.
U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee, made the ruling after the city and the state sued the federal government.
The temporary restraining order expires in 14 days on October 18, Immergut wrote in her order.
The Department of Defense has been ready to federalize 200 members of Oregon's National Guard for the next 60 days to protect the ICE facility, which has been a site for protests throughout the summer and into the fall.
On Saturday, about 400 people participating in a 'No National Guard in Portland' rally marched from Elizabeth Caruthers Park to the ICE facility.
As they marched, a helicopter continually followed them. And once they arrived at the facility, federal agents shot tear gas into the crowd and made six arrests, The Oregonian reported.
It's not yet clear who was arrested or why they were taken into custody.

Fence it in cut it off let it survive on its own we don’t want it or them. They are an it and are too stupid to realize “it”
Exactly. Our system is set up for this. It’s ugly and cumbersome, but it works. If Trump ignores and acts prematurely, he will play right into the “dictator” description of the left. The temp ruling will either be overturned by a higher court or, will run out. The NG will be on the ground in Portland, soon enough, if needed.
Oregon is not the problem. Portland is. The rest of the state is outvoted by Portland for all statewide offices. Look, I just saved you a fortune in fencing materials.

Article II, the President is CnC of the armed forces. Don’t these judges read the constitution?
I suspect this will soon be overturned by the Supreme Court.
Portland is like Los Angeles if anything good happens it’s by accident.
Portland is like LA with no police and bad weather.
No wonder it’s burning down sad for those who built it.
Suppose in 1865 a federal judge sitting in South Carolina had issued an injunction?
Goes right along with the two tiered justice system.
The two tiered legal system and standing down by police are undermining our progress.
I still wonder if the Phil Ochs song is still true that a rich man has never been executed in the US. “The Iron Lady” (1965).
All that Trump has to do is issue a new memo authorizing the federalization of the National Guard citing different conditions that exist now than did on September 27.

RE: Protesting at the judge’s home is a federal crime.
Good point.
Of course it is a crime.
Our side follows the law and accepts that the Dems do not.
I’m in Costa Rica on a project, what are you even talking about?
Au contraire… I’m about the same. It is indeed **FR** which has changed… I invite you to go to the archives of 20 or 25 years ago to this very day and just read post after post supporting Bush and Cheney and an aggressive Reagan foreign policy overseas and free trade and opposing the budget deficits, a national police force, I could go on and on.
Someone needs to come up with some charges against the judge. Especially if someone gets hurt.
Kill the protestors and arrest the judge. Does ANYONE have backbone left?
It is indeed **FR** which has changed

...and that’s a good thing. The Neo-Cons and Corporatists eventually nominated John McCain and Mitt Romney; and as a result gave us Barack Obama. We never knew how bad Bush was until we experienced the aftermath of his presidency (and those who would have been exactly the same kind of leader he was).
Just so The Daily Mail knows, it wasn’t much of a blow.
What if an ICE officer gets killed? Will the judge be held accountable?
Good question!
