My X account has been suspended for breaking X rules supposedly as being a fake account.
I have been on X since it was Twitter, since 2012. I have appealed it asking what I was being suspended for (I had not seen their email to me yet telling me they did it because broke their rules by setting up a fake account) but afterwards my husband looked up my name to see if they really did that and he discovered there is someone on X using my username.
He reported this person as a fake account but when it asked who is the person they are impersonating it would not accept my username, which he put in, be submitted. I am guessing because they suspended my account permanently and it does not bring up in a drop down menu my username which is how you would report it. The submit button was grayed out and that person, the real 'fake account' is still active on X.
This person, btw, put up a post asking to survey any Muslims who have acted badly and requested them to write him on X. I am stunned HE (there is a profile pic of a drawing of a man) is still on and not me. !
To get help from X you cannot write them anything, you must choose a series of categories. None of which you can 'explain' anything. I tried these categories and it says over and over you have already got an appeal in the que and wait for their response.
However I have read of ones who have waited months without a response. Meanwhile someone on their is operating under my name.
Does anyone know how to contact a person that is a staff member on X or part of the appeal process so I can explain this?

As you know I am right in there with you on that. But we are not going to have a choice. They are going to force it on us to handle customer service and our accounts similar to what just happened here in this post. This is a pain to cure because it is AI and it has been given full control over these issues.

I can’t. They locked the account. I tried (was a good suggestion, thank you) but this is what I got:
“Your account is suspended and is not permitted to perform this action”.

You serious or you are Joy Reid who claimed someone posted in her name/used her password (all lies of course)?
X allows allows duplicate/same names and of course they have ways of knowing which poster posted what.
For example there are thousands of Elon Musk's on X and no one confuses them with the real Elon Musk.
Why on earth would someone post in your name?
Is your dog a democrat or a republican?
It may not help with a competitor, but when I can’t find resolution with a company, online or not, I post on said company’s Facebook acct. Not sure if X has one though. They dpn’t seem to like unhappy customers discussing it in public.

About six months ago the same thing happened to me after I had been verified and had those clowns on auto-payment. All of a sudden, I got hit with a lifetime suspension. Two weeks ago, I created an account with one of my Google accounts and have not been harassed yet, although the algorithm doesn’t like one of the computers that I use to log in. I suspect this might have been the original problem, but there is no way to work around the AI that runs the place. Once you are out, there is no talking to them.
I was permanently suspended from twitter two weeks ago for making a handful of posts about my son’s persecution at UT Austin (anti conservative student activity by staff) ... and X labeled it as spam. I have appealed three times. I’ve had the account for over a decade. Looks like Elon is making X Twitter again. My suspicion is that he is using offshore or h1-b staff to handle these matters and I have post a bit about ending the H1-B program and putting tariffs on offshored services.
Maybe you should have set up specific rules for your complaint/help thread, giving strict guidance restricting certain comments from being made.
Hopefully I'll be dead before that gets completely implemented.

I think its ai taking over zll the human accounts on x. Pretty soon it will rule the x-verse.
Sounds like someone may have hacked your account from some data breach. As a minimum, change the password on the email you gave to Twitter/X.
Tell us the name of the account and we can report it as someone impersonating another account.
