Could Tyler Robinson have killed Charlie Kirk?

Posted on 09/14/2025 12:25:26 PM PDT by MisterMagic

There are a lot of people talking about not seeing Tyler Robinson leaving the rooftop with the rifle. But I don't see anyone asking if he could even made the shot. I'm no expert, but taking a single shot and killing your target at 200 yards requires more than a little experience shooting a gun. At that range the bullet is going to be affected by wind (if there was any), by a drop of several inches (or more) due to gravity, and shooting from a higher elevation is going to require compensation.

Where did Tyler Robinson learn enough to shoot at that distance?

Yeah, the positions at the range often have a roof to keep the sun off the shooters.

When this started, I heard on the news that the shot was 137 yds. That’s like hitting a bull in the ass with a bass fiddle. Somebody had a rangefinder while every other idiot was guessing at 200 yards.

I would like to know why and how he disassembled the rifle and reassembled it to leave it in the woods.

You obviously know very little about firearms, firearms use or training. Go bloviate somewhere else.

The boy spent a lot of time at the range and even did some firing with a .50 cal. His mother is a shooter. They bought him a gun building kit for Christmas. Geez. what more does it take?

Yes! Just stop it.

A 200 yard shot to a man size target with a decent scoped rifle isn’t difficult.

I recently took a marksmanship course.

I am right handed - right eye dominant. At the time I had a cataract that left me nearly blind in my right eye.

Shooting an unfamiliar rifle, left handed, left eye, unsupported & standing, and with only iron sights, I put all rounds into a standard target (torso size) at 200 yards.

My girlfriend who had never shot a rifle before, did the same with an M1 carbine.

A 200 yard shot, prone, with a scope is NOT difficult. The location of the fatal hit was a lucky-unlucky coincidence and not a sign of unusual skills.

This young man has quite a few pics from when he was younger with guns. He was not unfamiliar with them.

He confessed to his father that he shot Charlie. Remains to be seen about the involvement of others. Seems there were more that knew about it though.

So, if it wasn’t the fuzzy Bum Butty, who made the shot and where did he learn how to shoot.

There is an outdoor range near Hurricane with several long distance metal targets. Plenty of folks shoot there to hone their distance shooting as a hobby. I’m guessing that is how the assassin got his skill during his teenage years and after.

He didn’t, he carried the rifle wrapped in the same towel from the roof that it was wrapped in where he stashed. All yall need to stop with the conspiracy crap, he did it. He was caught on too many cameras, his car was caught on camera. He has the gun when he comes off the roof. It was an easy shot with a scoped .30-06 with a scope from a prone position on the roof.

I’d like to know where the assassin practiced his shooting skills before trying the real thing.

Holy crap! Its Utah! Most of the state is public land. Nobody thinks twice when they see someone shooting. Arizona also has vast stretched of open land.

Western states have many formal shooting ranges where anyone can go to shoot. Nobody gives those shooters a second thought.

You seem to be under the impression that the shot was some sort of super-human accomplishment. It was a fairly ordinary run-of-the-mill shot.

The kid was an experienced hunter and that was a big game round he was using with a good scope for a deer or moose or pretty much anything else except maybe a big grizzly. You want to assassinate someone from 200 yards in a prone position you don’t need to be a Seal Team 6 sniper. Most any competent deer hunter could do it and there are millions of them.

I think that the real question is how much like a video game, it is.

How in the Wild Wild World of Sports is that "the real question"?

Read up on the incident. He didn’t disassemble and reassemble the rifle at any time.

It’s an easy shot with a basic scope. If you can operate a rifle you can make the shot

Wind?? You mean that 0.18 seconds it took to travel the 200 yards was moved by the wind?

...where did he learn how to shoot...

What is the matter with you? You have been told repeatedly that it was a fairly mundane shot. It doesn't take Seal Team Six to shoot like that.

I agree, here on FR a day ago, we had this same discussion, in the video of the shooter getting off the roof, if you watch the slowed down version, he’s clearly got backpack on and carrying the rifle, it has a towel or something covering it up, it’s definitely a long stick, broom, or rifle under the covering.

It is perfectly legitimate to question who else is involved in the shooting and did he have help, but it’s pure fantasy to say that he fled from the roof without a rifle so how could it be found later in the woods.
