Former Gawker editor Elizabeth Spiers unloaded in the Nation what may be the most caustic postmortem on Charlie Kirk found anywhere in media so far — comparing the slain Turning Point founder to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbles and labeling Kirk “an unrepentant racist, transphobe, homophobe, and misogynist.”
The latter name calling appeared in the lead paragraph alone of the 1000-word essay under the headline: “Charlie Kirk’s Legacy Deserves No Mourning.”
Quoting gracious comments by California Gov. Gavin Newsom about the slain father of two, Spiers wrote, “There is no requirement to take part in this whitewashing campaign, and refusing to join in doesn’t make anyone a bad person.”
She continued, “It’s a choice to write an obituary that begins ‘Joseph Goebbels was a gifted marketer and loving father to six children.’”
Spiers criticized Kirk for his support of the Second Amendment, his criticism of feminism, and his Christian belief in the roles of husband and wife.
She also claimed Kirk said that “black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously.”

To the far Left magazine the Nation,
you are “racist” if you’ve ever been critical of the intellect of a black woman public official - black woman are supposed to be off limits for any criticism, just because they are a black woman
you are “transphobe” if you believe persons with gender dysphoria need compassionate, sympathetic but consistent professional mental health care to heal their mind of the gender dysphoria obsession so as to affirm their biological gender, and that they should not surgically mutilate their bodies and have a lifetime taking artificial hormones; that compassionate view makes you a “transphobe”
you are a homophobe if you do not believe anyone is born gay, and that no matter the route to being “gay” occurred, the Christian view it should not be chosen and is against God’s intentions for men and women; it does not matter how much compassion is attached to that view, you are still a “homophobe”
you are a misogynist if you simply believe in, generally, traditional roles for men and women - as in men like to play football and women like to cheer their players; or, as in Kirk’s case you “must” be a misogynist if you are a devout Conservative deeply faithful male Christian, to the Left, the two automatically go together
Of course all those charges are just the Left’s slanders and tactic for attacking Conservatives, and Conservative men in particular.
The first time I was called a “homophobe” was in the early 1990’s. I decided to look it up in the dictionary. There I read that the term was first coined in the 1960’s. Now I see or hear the word multiple times a day.
