Utah authorities questioned and released a person of interest in the shooting of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk Wednesday afternoon, according to state and federal officials. Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two, died from his injuries.
"The subject for the horrific shooting today that took the life of Charlie Kirk is now in custody," FBI Director Kash Patel tweeted Wednesday. "Thank you to the local and state authorities in Utah for your partnership with @fbi."
Earlier, he wrote that the "subject" was in custody, and Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox referred to a "person of interest in custody."

The MESSAGING from the DOJ/FBI is STILL a problem.
They may or may not be competently doing their job, but the messaging from the top does not instill credibility nor confidence.

200 yards with a precise shot to the carotid artery with one shot is a pretty good shot. It was a certainly fatal shot designed to kill even if Kirk had body armor.
It was an experienced shooter. It didn’t have to be an army trained sniper. But this was not a casual shooter who bought a gun and practiced a few times out at the range.
Mentioning Kash Patel and justice in the same story is not comforting.

this is not goinf to be easy finding the shooter, but they will
I realize Charlie Kirk was not President (yet), but how about a little security at outdoor political events? Why not station a trusted officer on top of the highest roof to keep an eye out for someone who should not be up there? One policeman on the highest roof could monitor all the high places.

Sorry… USMC trained shooter here. Lowly Marksman, lowest of the 3 USMC ranks , for 2 years out of four, and 200 yards with a rested rifle and scope is almost IMPOSSIBLE to miss. Did he have a rested, scoped rifle? Don’t know, but if he did, it wouldn’t take Jason Bourne. Jason Mraz could do it. As another poster said, your blind granny could do it.
