Maybe, but it was a rational act with premeditation. Who was the most effective person in breaking through the campus socialist echo chamber - Charlie Kirk. Can you think of anyone else right or left that was as effective in instilling reality in “young skulls full of mush?” He was so effective that the Democrats decided he had to be murdered and then primed an assassin to do it.
Fortunately Utah has the death penalty, but only good if the catch whoever is responsible.

The shift, to me, shows leftists are now engaging in targets of opportunity.
Maybe that is because major targets like politicians are harder to get to or maybe because leftist rage has reached a level where they cannot wait for a major target to appear; they need an immediate release for their anger and settle on anything in their immediate surroundings.
I think the public has sensed this danger. It is only a short step from shooting a political speaker to shooting the crowd itself.
