Every couple of months, I get together with 5 mothers and professional women (40 to 50-ish) here in my Japanese city north of Tokyo.  For for an hour and a half we speak English.  We had a session today.  A lot of fun and laughs.

Today I introduced the English slang "flip side" as in a phonograph record.  My age showed.  Not one of them understood what an LP was :-)

My third degree was an MA in TESL.

I have taught students from 16 different nations but my favourites have always been Japanese students, who have such social barriers to sounding strange and risk taking in language learning.

Once my Japanese students cultivated an English persona, they learned very quickly.
