Baseball fans are outraged after a woman chased down a dad to get a home run ball from a kid. But there's a happy ending.

This video is going to make you lose your mind.

A home run ball was hit into the stands at a Phillies game last night and a dad was able to snag the ball for his son before this lady who dropped the catch was able to grab it off the ground.

What happened next was wild.

Dad obviously didn't just snag the ball out of her hand. He grabbed it off the ground while they were both there simultaneously after she dropped the catch. He also gave the ball to his son. The rules of fandom clearly state that's his ball.

But the rules of an old Phillies lady scorned ...

This lady was booed into outer space.

This took place in Miami, but its the Marlins so there were more Phillies fans around than Marlins, but the Marlins team helped to make the inter-Philly dispute right.

And the Phillies, on top of it all, made the whole affair worthwhile.

Lots of people have caught a home run ball, but not that many kids get a bat! And that's not all. Fox's The Fixer has decided to hook up the family as well.

This kid had no idea how famous he was going to be and how much free stuff he was going to get.

My favorite part of this whole story, and it should be a surprise to no one, is that the top reply to all of these posts is something like this:

Pocahontas catching absolute strays here šŸ˜‚

If she’s a school administrator I’m surprised she didn’t give the kid cartoon gay porn and try to trans him

I’m appalled by the dad who didn’t get between that loon and his child.

BTW, Dad, that ball was not yours to give away.

Yeah, I don’t think this story is as black and white as people are making it. Whatever happened wasn’t the kid’s fault, though, so I’m glad he got some special gifts.

Unpopular opinion but everyone really needs to watch the entire incident from when the ball is hit the father ran across 16 seats to reach down in front of this lady and grab the ball that she was picking up from the ground directly underneath her seat.
It’s not clear-cut because of course everybody has a right to go after a baseball in the stands.
She was probably also wrong to go and confront him about it but with the father did was not really very nice at all.
The way he ran over there and went under her seat to get the ball she was trying to pick back up was not a very good example to his son of how to get something.
But I have no Illusions the entire country and probably the entire world is against this woman.

I’m not saying I’m right. But I would have given the ball to her. And that’s because I’m stuck in a long bygone era, when the rules for men were different.

I have been to a LOT of baseball games and for the most part, if an adult catches or gets a foul ball or HR ball, they give it to a kid and the kid is always in awe of getting a game played ball. Maybe it is different at other ballparks and games but that is what I have witnessed and it seems to be another one of those "unwritten fan rules".

But evidently she caught it first, then dropped it.

That's not what I saw in the video. She never had it in her hand. She wasn't even in the empty row where the ball was. She just thought it was hers because it was "her section", and he walked over from the next section and picked it up.

I couldn’t make anything out in the video. So I’m relying on the article, which said she caught the ball first. But that could be wrong.

Its not a “zone” thing. A loose ball is a loose ball in foul ball/HR ball etiquette. He didn’t go “under her seat”, it was in the row in front of her. She didn’t secure it, and she didn’t appear to even touch it. Doesn’t matter anyway, a loose ball is a loose ball. Free for all.

An un-signed home run ball has no provenance. It’s just a baseball.

It’s been reported that the woman was banned from the Phillies locker room after the game so that she couldn’t get the ball autographed.

EXACTLY.

It's crazy to me that she seems to think that the whole section belonged to her, and no one could come over to "her section" and pick up the ball from an empty row that she's not even standing in, because it's "her section".

The entitlement...

In the bleachers:
If the ball is on the ground it’s fair game - unless it hit someone in the head or face - in which case they should get the ball.
She was out of line.
Don’t know why the kids father let her take the ball.

Which makes it clear cut, it's like a fumble, whomever ends up with it gets it.

“So I’m relying on the article, which said she caught the ball first. But that could be wrong.”

From what I saw, it seems she wasn’t even close to catching the ball. Many people were scurrying for it; the dad stood up with it. Anyhow ... that also could be wrong.

I hate the woman because her appearance screams, “LIBERAL KAREN!” (That also could be wrong.)

She did physically accost the father — hand (punch?) on his shoulder. I don’t know if that’s assault or battery (never can keep them straight). Nobody is mentioning that, that I’ve heard.

The stadium is pretty much empty, so when a ball is hit to the area, it becomes a free for all.
