We won yesterday's space race. We'll win today's space race against China, and we'll always win tomorrow's space race.
@SpaceX's Starship test flight success moves us one step closer toward achieving that goal.

“In 2027, we WILL return American astronauts to the Moon.”
Given it’s only four months til 2026, that’s a short time frame.

The Moon landings were so successful they became boring. Liberals whined about how the money could be better spent here. Rather than an advanced civilization expanding into space we got the Welfare State instead.

Bingo. A waste of time and money this time around. The prestige factor has come and gone, we have nothing to prove anymore. “We were the first on our block to have the toy,” now nothing is gained except NASA jobs.

ok if no one else will say it, thank you Elon Musk and your now proven learning through iterative, limit testing fast development system. it works far better than any gov’t run system of requirements.

They are landing where the Sun literally never shines, the Lunar poles. This is because water ice has been detected there.
The poles are the only spots on the moon with moderate temperatures. The light side of the moon is around 250 degrees Fahrenheit and dark side of the moon is minus 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

WHY NOT?

To put a woman and a black man on the moon. They already have the astronauts picked out. And yes, there's a woman and a black man.
Both flew on the Space Station, and the black man is a Naval Aviator, who flew Hornets.

Race to the moon paid for most my upbringing.
My parents were employed by companies that
did the deed.
Most my all family also benefited from the race to the moon.
My only criticism is, why did we not occupy and create
a base on the moon to exploit its resources?
Now were at back at it, so we can go to Mars.
My understanding is we explore to find new things
to exploit and use what we find and learn to
improve our lives.
My call would be to make the moon trip a
common event, exploit the moons resources,
and then on to Mars.

Yes, we definitely need a Moonbase. This was supposed to happen in 1980.

Thee are not that many sites on the moon that are ideal for establishing a base of operations
Getting there first means the US can stake out the prime locations
