Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months.
The Harry Potter star, 35, was disqualified and ordered to pay £1,044 (S$1800) after she was caught driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone in Oxford.
Emma - who shot to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film franchise - was sentenced at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (July 16), after she admitted speeding on Banbury Road, Oxford.
She was driving her £30,000 Audi S3 car at the time.
Emma wasn't in attendance at the courtroom, which is based in Buckinghamshire, southeast England.
According to This is Oxfordshire, her representative said in court that his client "fully understands her position and will accept her punishment".
Before the speeding incident in Oxford, Emma already had nine points on her license following three previous offences.
Her Audi was impounded by police in February 2024 after her parked motor was blocking two cars in Stratford-upon-Avon.
At the time, Warwickshire Police confirmed that "a report of a blue Audi S3 parked across a driveway and blocking in two cars on High Street near the junction with Sheep Street in Stratford.
"The report was made at 9.42pm and the car was impounded and taken away at 10.21pm.
"No crime was recorded."
Just days later, Emma wrote on X: "Still searching for parking in Stratford-upon-Avon. [crying laughing face emoji]"
The star was studying for a master's degree in creative writing at the University of Oxford, which she began in September 2023, before switching to a PhD.

And milk and beer still in pints.
Nope. they’ve retained MPH in the UK.
Last year I got pulled over in Wyoming for 89mph in a 75mph zone. As soon as I saw the Trooper sitting on the median, I pulled over to the shoulder. I knew he had me.
He comes to the window and says, "It's no fun to chase you if you just pull over." Laughing. We chatted for a bit, he ran my license, registration, and insurance. Alles in Ordnung.
He gave me a warning. First one I ever got in my life. I didn't have the heart to tell him, if he'd seen me two hours earlier, he would have caught me doing 120 in an 85.
Dodge Challenger, Mrs. Kit's car. Big power plant. Very fast very easy. That beast smoothes out at about 110 - feels like 50.
Yeah, I think anything over 100mph gets attention. I also think cops like an excuse to stretch the wings on their police-specials. A few years ago a friend was doing a ride-along with a CO State Trooper. Turns out those Camaros they had could do at least 186mph on I-25. That's NASCAR level.
I'll be on the lookout for a Mt. Prospect city police auction...(cue Blues Brothers)
More worried about 8mph than all the raping going on
“””Losing a license for 6 months for going 8 miles over the limit????”””
I believe that penalty reflects the authoritarianism running rampant in UK.
Now, if a Muslim were to chop off the head of a Brit, the authorities would clean the machete and let him go.
this was in oxford.
you know what they say about assume.
You can’t say you weren’t warned and given a chance to rectify it. I hear they do that announcement on the planes landing there too. You can stay on the plane and just leave.
I did try to watch my speeds, however I routinely went over the limits just a bit. I was never cited, so I don't know if they were as humorless as now.
Some interesting driving customs in England at the time.
Cars would switch off headlights while driving in town after dark. I wonder if they still do this.
Also, hooting one's hooter (beeping the horn) was a major offensive gesture. The roundabouts were challenging and amazing.
“Losing a license for 6 months for going 8 miles over the limit????”
No. That’s what I initially thought. Upon reading the article further I see that she had accumulated points for previous infractions. Some sort of cumulative effect.
It’s a very mixed bag here. A lot of stuff sold is per pound. As far as driving it’s kilometres. Fuel is in litres. One could go on and on about this and that.
She’s an habitual offender. They don’t play in GB when it comes to orderly traffic. It’s not like here where offenders (some) are allowed to disrespect the police and refuse to comply while using public roads. Try that there and they will boot stomp you as soon as more badged revelers arrive to throw you a party
In Australia, one Kph over the limit is cause for a fine.
CA and AZ would say: “Stop driving so slow”
Cruising speed on Phoenix highways are 80 in a 65.
WOULD
Good for them. Since Canada went over to the darkside in this area, I assumed the U.K. had as well.
As an American who has spent the bulk of my adult life in Canada, I can vouch that the metric units are largely useless. The meter and yard are about equally useful, but the rest of the metric length units are either too big or too small.
The litre is about as useful as a quart, but all of the rest of the metric volume units stink.
And while the kilogram is the best of the metric units for weight, it is not nearly as useful as a pound—and an ounce is infinitely preferable to a gram.
If she raped a 15 year old girl in Birmingham she wouldn’t even get a fine.
Wealthy socialists always believe they are entitled, whether they are stars in America or England.
