Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months.
The Harry Potter star, 35, was disqualified and ordered to pay £1,044 (S$1800) after she was caught driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone in Oxford.
Emma - who shot to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film franchise - was sentenced at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (July 16), after she admitted speeding on Banbury Road, Oxford.
She was driving her £30,000 Audi S3 car at the time.
Emma wasn't in attendance at the courtroom, which is based in Buckinghamshire, southeast England.
According to This is Oxfordshire, her representative said in court that his client "fully understands her position and will accept her punishment".
Before the speeding incident in Oxford, Emma already had nine points on her license following three previous offences.
Her Audi was impounded by police in February 2024 after her parked motor was blocking two cars in Stratford-upon-Avon.
At the time, Warwickshire Police confirmed that "a report of a blue Audi S3 parked across a driveway and blocking in two cars on High Street near the junction with Sheep Street in Stratford.
"The report was made at 9.42pm and the car was impounded and taken away at 10.21pm.
"No crime was recorded."
Just days later, Emma wrote on X: "Still searching for parking in Stratford-upon-Avon. [crying laughing face emoji]"
The star was studying for a master's degree in creative writing at the University of Oxford, which she began in September 2023, before switching to a PhD.
yeah it seems a bit strict. I did worse than that this morning
“In the US you’d get a ticket for 8mph over the speed limit. But not there.”
What would you get with nine points on your license ...
>> 38mph in a 30mph zone in Oxford
38mph!!! And in a vehicle equipped with an ICE! The sociopath. She got off easy. Should have been taken to the Tower and stretched on the rack.
Emma, COMMUNISTS STEAL. KEEP VOTING FOR THEM! 🤡
“after her parked motor was blocking two cars”
Imagine the fine if she left the whole car there!
I guess she must have failed Teleportation 101 at Hogwarts ...
“Emma Watson is 35?! Ugh, I’m getting old.”
That’s OK, I do not even know who she is....
Bet that Audi S3 was quite a bit more than £30k. It would be the equivalent of well over £40k in USA.
This is a school zone, love. What gear were you in?
Nike?
That’s a bit harsh I would say..................

One of the many disadvantages of fame is that a minor traffic infraction is global news.
Entitled washed up Brit actress.
I’m guessing that it was 64 kmph in a 50 kmph zone, but given the yank readership, they translate.
The penalty is awful. I was nailed for 116 in an 80 a few months back, but went through the system and had it reduced to 95 in an 80-—which is only $50 (Canadian). The penalty for 36 over was a huge amount more, but at least in Ontario it is only at 50 over that you face truly draconian penalties.
I glanced at the article and there didn’t seem to be any particularly exacerbating factors. Moral of the story-—don’t go to the U.K.
Freegards RedB!
Please note it was for repeated offenses.
Not just going 8 mph over.
She’s supposedly worth $85 million, so she could hire a driver.
I wonder what Zach Edey will get?
He just admitted in court to driving 110 in a 55 MPH zone🙀
Luckily for him it was in N Indiana not far from Purdue I think. 🤣
I obviously didn’t bother to read the article closely enough, nor any of the decent replies.
While I still hold the penalty is draconian, if you have two or more current offenses on your record, it probably is a good idea to ease off.
