I thought Hollywood people were supposed to get away with it. I'm surprised it's in MPH.

That is steep for 8 mph over.
That would be a $100 ticket in my city.
If it wasn’t just a warning.

Losing a license for 6 months for going 8 miles over the limit????
To: nickcarraway
I assume that this is in Singapore. If it is I can assure everyone that they don't fool around there. Everywhere you look you see signs that say "$100 Fine For...".
In the US you'd get a ticket for 8mph over the speed limit. But not there.
To: shelterguy; Fledermaus
She already had a bunch of points against her license for other offenses.

Speed and distance are still in MPH and miles in the UK.
To: nickcarraway
At first I thought that the sentence was a little harsh until I read that she had she had previous violations. I too am surprised though that she could not just “wave a magic wand” and make it go away because of her celebrity status.

If you read the whole article, she didn’t lose her driving privileges for this incident specifically. She had already accumulated a number of points on her license.

Off with her head.

Seems like a Draco-(Malfoy)-nian penalty.

Tennessee would also revoke the license ...

One simple way to avoid trouble is remain within speed limits while driving. A difficult demand for many drivers, I know

It was the nine points she already had on her license that caused her to have it suspended. In Texas you only get three points.
