Celebrity chef Anne Burrell passed away suddenly at 55 in her Brooklyn home last month.
The sudden death of the Food Network’s star stunned friends, co-workers and fans.
Burrell found love later in life and recently got married. She appeared to be in “high spirits” according to close friends.
However, according to a fellow celebrity chef, Anne Burrell also privately struggled.
On Thursday, it was revealed Anne Burrell committed suicide.
“The NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner says the official manner of death was suicide and the cause of death was “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.”” TMZ reported.
TMZ previously reported that a bunch of pills were found nearby when Anne Burrell’s husband found her unresponsive in the shower.
The New York Post reported:
“Worst Cooks in America” host Anne Burrell’s cause of death has been revealed.
The chef, who passed away at age 55 on June 17 at her Brooklyn home, died by suicide, The Post can confirm.
Burrell’s cause of death was determined by the New York City medical examiner’s office and is specified as “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.”

Very common with people who commit suicide, because they think very soon all of their problems will be over. That’s why a danger sign is a person who suddenly appears to be unusually upbeat.
I cannot fathom a reason why someone of her stature would commit suicide.......................

A lot of successful people are manic depressives, in fact it drives them because it’s how they “outrun the black dog”.

That’s quite an interesting recipe she cooked up for a suicidal occasion.
About 20 years ago when I was dealing with a lot of neck pain, I very nearly overdosed accidentally. It was a combination of prescription and OTC NSAIDs, muscle relaxers, and Diet Coke, which seemed to kick off the whole reaction, as I had taken the other meds over the previous 4 hours. There could have been Benadryl or Claritin in there as well, I don’t recall. Suddenly I couldn’t walk, was slurring my words, and could feel something really weird happening to my body. I called poison control. While I was on the phone with him, I started barfing, thank goodness. He called me again an hour later to make sure I was okay.
