I've tried a mole sauce with dark chocolate. Can't say I'm a big fan.

I don’t like chocolate or cinnamon in my chili. Why I’m not a big fan of Skyline.

Some people swear by adding a little cinnamon to coffee.

Dark Chocolate square is a secret ingredient? This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of that being added to chili or pasta sauces. Not sure why everyone is in such awe about it.

Same here. Also for almost 50 years. Hardly a secret.
On the other hand, home cooking does seem to be on its way to becoming a lost art.
I’ve known several adults who have never used an appliance in their kitchen other than the coffee pot. Take out, delivery or restaurants for every meal.

Coco and coffee are standard additions to chili.
This is not remotely new.
To: Sacajaweau
I may be theonly person in the world who hates chili and chocolate too.

I’ve won regional awards with “Choco-chili”.
Also, you might try 3 shots of espresso in 2 quarts of finished chili.

Cocoa and coffee in chile is standard. The generation that can’t cook is surprised.

Yep, no secret, some Mexican recipes call for it, most do not.
Texas chili sure does not

Oops, my excuse is that I was cooking spaghetti and a canned hot tamales/canned chili sauce for it.
By the way dark chocolate is an old and not unusual addition to chili as many have noted already, I use it sometimes.
