Matt Walsh exposes how tipping culture has spiraled out of control—from sit-down restaurants to self-checkout screens. It’s not generosity anymore, it’s emotional blackmail.

I like that they give recommendations. I was tipping way too much. If only they pay waitresses more then 2 bucks an hour, they might not be as desperate.
Truth. Sick and tired of of every transaction requesting tips.
I’ve noticed that too.
St. Jude is the other one I’m somewhat familiar with.
I think that is the charity started by Danny Thomas, Marlo’s late father
You mean you got a response from one of those surveys, where they told you, the customer, that you were in the wrong?
Remember the old saying that the customer is always right?
The customer can always take his or her business elsewhere.
Personally, I give tips in a sit down restaurant. I do not give tips at fast food or coffee places where you are getting a carry out order.
I worked in the food and beverage service industry when I was younger. It’s not easy at times when your income fluctuates. A few big tables can carry you over another week. But we always had tables of 10 or more people who would want the check split up, but when you added up all the tips it wouldn’t even add up to $15.
The concept of tipping however has just gone off the deep end.
But all of these POS machines, with the prompts to add a percentage, or donate to some cause is too much. It’s at the grocery stores now, and pet stores.
I absolutely will not have anything to do with any establishment that requires a tip BEFORE the food is provided. If your tip is not up to their specks you could receive a big green lugie with your meal. :(
I always tell them, "What say we round down to help with next months mortgage"? :)
Yes, he was the founder of St. Jude’s Hospital for Children when I was a child. I was raised just an hour’s drive southeast of Memphis in NW Mississippi.................

Great video by Matt Walsh, as always. Thanks for posting it.
I went to lunch with several coworkers and we all took our checks to the register to pay. Since we were paying with credit card, we were going to tip when we totaled it out and signed. The very effeminate waiter angrily came up to the register and demanded to know what was wrong with his service since we didn’t leave anything on the table. We all looked at him, pens poised about our receipts and he angrily stalked off when he saw we were paying by credit card, not cash. I think everyone left him something but today, I would tip zero and write a note about how I didn’t appreciate his aggression. Then I would take a picture of the receipt so he couldn’t post a copy and write something else.
OR I would tell him to F off.
In our house, the dog charges an exorbitant, ‘Cheese Tax.’ If you have cheese, you had better be giving some of it to her!
I took my dogs to get groomed and when I paid by cc, the tip screen popped up, starting at THIRTY FIVE PERCENT.
Nah. Never went back.

“Take heart amid the deepening gloom that your dog is finally getting enough cheese.”
Wow—that may be a record!
THE CHEESE TAX THE CHEESE TAX
You gotta pay the cheese tax
Every time you’re cookin’
When the cheese drawer opens
That puppy comes lookin’
The rules are the rules
And the facts are the facts
When the cheese drawer opens
You gotta pay the tax!
T.I.P.S. = ‘To Insure Prompt Service’
Feed me quick, or you get no tip. :)
I’m probably in a restaurant 4x a year and myself and the other three I’m usually dining with always split the bill and the tip, so it’s never been a problem.
If Beau is paying, it’s also not my problem. He’s a big tipper WHEN DESERVED. :)
