What We Now KNOW About TWA Flight 800

A Pair of Lawsuits Promise to Expose the Truth Behind the July 1996 Disaster.

On July 17, 1996, TWA 800, a Paris-bound 747, blew up ten miles off Long Island’s south shore, killing all 230 souls on board. In the days leading up to the anniversary, I will share some fresh insights on this tragedy and the much too successful cover-up that followed.

After 25 years investigating the destruction of TWA Flight 800, I have learned to temper my enthusiasms. That said, I continue to take heart when I see signs of life. Perhaps the most promising development in the case is the progression through the courts of Krick v. Raytheon.

Ronald Krick is the father of Oliver Krick, a 25-year-old student flight engineer killed in the crash. Krick has been joined in the suit by relatives of other deceased passengers and crew. The defendants are the Raytheon Company, the Lockheed Martin Corporation, and the United States government.

The Krick suit gained momentum when it absorbed information gleaned from a FOIA suit brought by Tom Stalcup, a no-nonsense physicist who has been pursuing this case since he was a grad student in 1996. To establish his claims Stalcup was granted subpoena power and was able to depose several key witnesses from within the investigation.

Stalcup appeared in the 2001 documentary, Silenced, produced by me and my late partner James Sanders. In 2013 Stalcup and the late Kristina Borjesson, formerly of CBS News, produced the excellent documentary, TWA Flight 800. What follows are extended passages from Krick v. Raytheon.

—On July 17, 1996, a Boeing 747 headed for Paris took off from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at around 8:20 p.m. Within twelve minutes of takeoff, the plane exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island, New York. All 230 passengers and crew members perished.

—After the incident, the federal government released a false report contending that the explosion was the result of an electrical fire in the airplane’s center fuel tank.

—Only recently, thanks to the work of physicist, Dr. Thomas Stalcup, through his Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) litigation in Massachusetts federal court, has evidence emerged proving that TWA 800’s explosion was not caused by any defect in the airplane, but instead by an errant United States missile fired at aerial target drones flying nearby.

—The evidence unearthed by Dr. Stalcup establishes that the United States, including its agencies, such as the United States Missile Defense Agency (formerly known as the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization), the United States Department of Defense, and the United States Navy (the “Government Defendants”), acting in concert and working side-by-side with Raytheon Company and Lockheed Martin Corporation (the “Contractor Defendants”) and DOES 1 through 20, inclusive (collectively the “Defendants”) were testing the Aegis Weapons System and firing SM-2 missiles with live warheads from warship(s) at aerial missile targets off the coast of New York in close proximity to commercial airline flight paths. One such missile struck TWA flight 800, causing it to break apart and crash into the Atlantic Ocean, killing everyone aboard.

—Newly discovered evidence also shows that these Defendants engaged in a top-down cover-up to prevent the public from learning the truth about TWA 800. Proof of this cover-up, and of Defendants’ underlying culpability for the crash, was only recently unearthed by Dr. Stalcup after more than a decade of FOIA litigation against the Government Defendants.....SNIP

“Those gasses in turn expelled all oxygen. “

Wrong again.

“because the electrical arcing of the sending unit would make it explode.”

LOL. There is no arc. I guess you have no idea how the sending unit works.

All you need it for the jet fuel to be above its flashpoint and have a concentration between 0.6% and 4.7%, and it most definitely will ignite with a spark or flame.

You think perhaps the temperature in that fuel tank had reached 600 degrees Fahrenheit before the spark occurred?

“Yeah, especially when over 100 witnesses saw the SAME THING. “

755 witnesses testified. Only 38 said they saw “it”.

Most likely they were not even looking till after the explosion.

LOL. #1 fuel can be ignited at less than 140 degrees.

Remember the demonstration video I linked to you.

And, having served with thousands of sailors throughout my career, there is no way someone wouldn't have spilled the beans. Submarines might be the "silent service", but the surface Navy is another thing altogether.

I'm a former enlisted submariner and was in during the time TWA800 exploded. I can assure you that the "silent service" has nothing to do with bubbleheads' mouths. There is nothing the government could possibly do to shut up a disgruntled 20-something year old single sub sailor with an axe to grind. Just the same as the surface fleet I'm sure, if the command screwed up so badly to kill hundreds of civilians, there is absolutely no way to silence the crew. (And nor have I ever met an officer who would think to do such a thing.)

No, I do not think that.

But do I think the residual fuel could have been heated above its flashpoint of 100 degrees by the air conditioning packs mounted directly below the center tank after running for an extended delay on the ground during a hot summer day? Absolutely.

Out of curiosity, what is the significance of the 600 degrees that you state?

Not necessary to have an are to grind. Sometimes you just have to “unload”.

Some of my buddies off other boats and I have shared some amazing stories, especially after a few beers.

I would tell you some but they swore me to secrecy after telling me!

I had a security clearance from 1970 till I retired in 2016. At various times this clearance included TS. My military education included Command & General Staff. I really do understand the difference between lawful and unlawful orders. A command to cover up a shoot-down of a civilian airliner would, on the face of it, would be illegal. Members of the military have an obligation to refuse illegal orders and to report those illegal orders.

There were hundreds of naval personnel that would have been aware of a missile launch. It’s been almost 25 years and not a single one has come forward. It didn’t happen.

A second point. I spent many years in missile development and testing. One does not get approval to conduct live firings a few miles off Long Island. Just isn’t going to happen. Even if it did, that’s another group of hundreds who would have been aware of the testing/firing. None of those have come forward. It didn’t happen.

A third point. An audit of missiles was conducted. The military knows how many were produced. They know how many were expended. All missiles were accounted for. It didn’t happen.

“Interesting that a tow truck have so many friends in different branches that are sworn to secrecy but let you in on details.”

Servicing the public on a major east west interstate as “road service” you meet a lot of folks many do not have the chance to ever meet. It is just part of the business... Tires, lock outs, towing... everyone breaks down at some point. These truly become intimate “You are saving my life” situations for most customers.

So over the years being into politics since high school I have had countless conversations with customers from all countries, and all walks and positions in life. I have been fortunate to have many of them decide they would like to stay in contact and communicate our similar interests.

Many of them are in very high profile positions and occupations who just happen to share stuff with me in confidence that most would never get. And yet even though they trust me not to dox them there are things I just cannot pry out of them... But it isn’t because I didn’t try... But here and there I was able to get some nuggets of reality that were/are absolutely priceless.

I really have had the opportunity to meet a lot of folks in high places over the years. Celebrities, politicians, Corporate CEOS, rag editors, published authors... And many of them I still stay in touch with about current events.

Where do you get this “tow guy” is too stupid to do anything or know anyone concept? I have hobbies and interests aside from my profession. I have been into physics and mechanical engineering since I was a child. I apprenticed into archeology, anthropology, and geology from my Grand parents and uncles. My mother was a psychologist and practiced on me. My Father held a Masters in business administration and apprenticed me. I understand flight dynamics very well and have a pilots license.

Since I became interested in computers in the 80s I have indulged myself into building and operations of computers and software. As a hobby 15years ago I bought hosting and taught myself how to develop websites. Noe I am spending all my time when I am not arguing with your limited skills researching underground technology to combat the global agenda to enslave us all with technology.

You assume ignorance when I just happen to have an insatiable appetite for knowledge and information. Every time I see something new I go spend weeks, sometimes months researching it because I am addicted to learning. This “but you are not a candle stick maker” is all bullshit. You can absolutely and legally know how to butcher, bake, and make candles all at the same time... There is no law against it. Only the oppression of culture and society who try their best to discourage it because “follow the rules of the herd”.

Folks... Never let this cultural and social mentality put you inside a box... Just because you do not have a current fishing license doesn’t mean you do not know how to fish. If you are a candle stick maker it is NOT against the law to teach yourself how to diversify and and cut meat and/or bake too. The only thing holding you back is peer pressure and the concept of “socially approved norms”. Throw those away and go for it...

And for you sir... All of these different interests have put me shoulder to shoulder with some very influential entities over the years... I am honestly very fortunate...
