US Jews contribute half of all donations to the Democratic Party

A new study argues that the large majority of American Jews have a deep-seated notion that being Jewish is inextricably bound to being liberal.

That idea took hold after the large waves of Jewish immigration to the US in the late 19th century, according to the study’s author, American history professor Gil Troy.

American Jewish liberalism and association with the Democratic party is showing no signs of abatement, despite many predictions to the contrary since Ronald Reagan’s presidency, according to Troy’s research, which is being published by the Ruderman Family Foundation's Program for American Jewish Studies at the University of Haifa.

“liberalism IS being Jewish. It became ingrained in their faith that you can’t be a good Jew if you aren’t liberal.”

Jews in Israel certainly aren’t overwhelmingly liberal. Just the opposite in fact. So Judaism and liberalism aren’t intertwined to the extent you seem to think. When Jews are in the minority they vote liberal but when they are in the majority (like Israel) they tend to be much more conservative. Muslims in the US are culturally conservative but vote Dem. Basically all minority groups in the US vote majority Dem.

It’s an amazing picture of how people may act against their own interests, seemingly blinded to certain subjects. Like when groovy peace-lovers travel through terrorist countries to “prove” something and are killed.

People conflate “Jews,” with Israel.

Its a form of active cognitive dissonance

In an effort to project being an intellectual, these people replace a solid understanding of world events with contrarianism. Then blindly go about their self serving business.

Many, if not most, liberal Jews consider themselves secular. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t religious.

Leftism isn’t just politics—it’s a faith. And it has its own god. But that god isn’t above man; it is man. The believer becomes his own god. That’s why dissent feels like heresy—when the self is sacred, disagreement becomes blasphemy.

Wrong. Koreans, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Cubans mostly Republican, even Asian-Indians and Latinos are now half Republican

To the party that despises them and Israel. Very convoluted.

Many, many Jews who reside in other cultures, fear being persecuted or killed because that is their history. hey believe that suciing up to the dominant political culure is necessary for their survival. It comes down to, “If I support you enthusiastically you will see that I am harmless and will kill me last of all your perceived enemies.” It does not work. It gains nothing with the totalitarians and isolates them from the portions of the population who really wouldsupport them or just who treat them as neighbors.

“20% Of Jewish Voters in NYC Supported Mamdani in the Mayoral Primary”

OK, so 80% of Jews oppose Mamdani. Majority of Blacks opposed Mamdani. Higher percent of white, non-Jews, voted for Mamdani than Jews. So focusing so much on the Jews is.... weird.

I worked for a Jewish owned company from 1963-1986. I got to know many Jewish colleagues well. I heard tales of discrimination in their personal life in United states. One of my friend there was named Rosenberg. He told me only way he could get a job was write in his last name as Rose. What I learned is than anyone who faces discrimination based on race, religion or origin, never gets over it for decades. Many foreigners vote Democrat even if earnings good money is they never forget incidences of discrimination. Democrats pretend to be inclusive party. Blacks vote Democrat for that reason.

That deathwish was most sparklingly illustrated in post-Revolutionary USSR. The most enthusiastic persecutors of Jews were themselves of Jewish parentage.

It could be that Jews simply have different aims when they use their vote, power, and influence to shape what used to be Christian countries than what they want for their own Jewish state country.

You are correct concerning the Vietnamese and to some extent the Cubans but not the other Asian groups.

Asian voters in the U.S. tend to be Democratic, but Vietnamese American voters are an exception
By
Katherine Schaeffer
About half of Vietnamese American registered voters are Republicans or lean to the GOP – the highest share across the five largest Asian origin groups in the United States.

Overall, about six-in-ten Asian American registered voters (62%) identify as Democrats or lean to the Democratic Party, and 34% are Republicans or GOP leaners, according to a Pew Research Center survey of Asian adults conducted from July 2022 to January 2023.

Around two-thirds of U.S. registered voters who are Filipino (68%), Indian (68%) or Korean (67%) identify as Democrats or lean Democratic. Chinese American voters are also majority Democratic (56%), while Vietnamese American voters tilt to the GOP (51% Republican, 42% Democratic).

“Jews in Israel certainly aren’t overwhelmingly liberal. Just the opposite in fact.”

I meant US urban and suburban Jews (by and large). I should have specified NYC and its surrounds.

A religion that mandates worshipping God (Ex. 20:3), the nuclear family (Ex. 20:12) calls for the death penalty for murderers (Gen. 9:6) and supports private property (1 Kings 21:3) is not a left-wing religion.
