AP Photo/Chris Pizzello The latest Disney/Pixar animated film, 'Elio', has a dubious distinction. It has the worst opening weekend ever for a Pixar film, making only $21 million domestically and $14 million overseas. This is against a budget reportedly ranging from $150 million to $300 million. Yikes! Would you believe us if we told you things could have been even worse at the box office? Before some major changes, the 11-year-old title character was going to be gay ('queer-coded') and, for fun, put on fashion shows with clothing made out of trash he found on the beach. Oh, and he had a boy-crush. No really!
Here’s more background. (READ)

See new posts Conversation DiscussingFilm @DiscussingFilm Pixar massively changed ‘ELIO’ after the original cut was test screened & not a single person raised their hand when asked if they’d pay to see the film in a movie theater
Elio was also initially a queer-coded character until leadership told them to make him more masculine

You’re probably asking how the original pitch for the movie was approved. No sane person would ever think that’s something that would appeal to mainstream families.
Posters say the answer is clear - the studio 'talent' isn’t making movies for mass audiences, they’re making movies for themselves and about themselves.
More gay wouldn’t have saved the film.
Many posters have a simple solution that will prevent this from happening in the future.
They could have canned the film while it was in its original form or skipped the theatrical release on the reworked version and sent it straight to Disney+. Now, they have to deal with the huge financial loss of putting it in theaters and the embarrassment of it being a colossal flop.
Disney has enough money to push the whole world to becoming gay. It’s what propels them. It’s all they care about.
I used to teach at Disney University a generation ago, I can assure you that this would never have happened with the management I knew then.
The daughter of a friend has wanted to be in animation since childhood, got her degree from a good school, and is ending her year as a Disney intern. Turns out they aren't hiring any cast members for production staff. It's difficult to say it to her, but I suspect it's probably the best thing that could happen to her future career; if she's lucky she'll end up working in illustration for an unwoke company and doing animation on the side. (She'll probably be in a chair instead of on the side, but I digress.)
Disney continues to be hammered on woke movies with “messages” that no one wants to see - the recent Snow White as another example.
It’s almost as if they had an agenda to get out, and damn the cost.
Didn’t they ruin the Toy Story franchise by adding in perversions?
I never planned to see this movie, even though once in a great while, I enjoy a cartoon or well animated movie with a good story. I did go see “How to Tame Your Dragon”. I really enjoyed that film. It was well crafted, with CGI not overused or overwhelming the human characters.
It was a tale of fantasy and adventure , impossible adventures, but you know what? I began to care about the characters, even the main Dragon. Some parts felt as deep and appealing as when I saw the movie ET tons of years ago. I made the right choice.
There was a Father and Son relationship struggle depicted with the Teenage Boy who learned to train this Dragon.
I identified with that struggle to prove myself. It was funny in many scenes too. Not serious or too pushy.
Its rare that Disney has a hit anymore. They do every once in a while but the story of the past 5 years has been Disney flop after Disney flop. I mean, how can you screw up Snow White? The only reason Disney hasn’t gone bankrupt yet is because of how big it is and how much past goodwill it had. But I have to believe that won’t last and the company will be on death watch soon enough.
Prefer Studio Ghibli. No fags.
The future of animation is ‘AI’.
She had best get another degree in something else...........
That was Lasseter. The movies have been a disasters ever since he left.
“How to Tame Your Dragon” was my older daughter’s favorite movie. She still has her Toothless plushie even though she’s staring college.
I just read the summary of the plot on Wiki.
In addition to the gay romance between young boy and young alien boy (literal star crossed lovers, replete with hateful father and loving gay aunt) the “good guys” are literally intergalactic communists called “communigesia” or something with the bad guys being boogeymen fascist oligarch/capitalist looking to exploit/conquer/kill less developed planets.
It’s and ANTIFA wet dream
There are grown adult childless couples who are completely obsessed Disney fans. It is pitiful. Disney could burn to the ground today and we would all be better off.
It will be a hit...🤣
I know Disney has deep pockets, but sooner or later they will have to get enough of hemorrhaging money for their woke bs
That's what liberals do though. Like all parasites they feed off of the success of others. Bleeding the victim dry until they move on to the next thing they can kill.
Like Disney (& for same reasons) Pixar filled their writing depts with wokies.
That is like stirring in some arsenic into food — takes a while but the end is both foreseeable and inevitable. Oh, and deliberate. These horrors of humanity hate humanity, especially the ones who succeed at it. Envy.
I laughed out loud 😂
These people are sick. The vast majority of Americans don’t think like they do, have different values, and don’t feel obligated to support such things.
Shareholders should should clean house, assuming they want a business investment that targets on the biggest possible audience.
The suspicion that these movies are simply, in the words of Steely Dan, "show biz kids making movies of themselves, you know they don't give a **** about anybody else" is entirely justified. Calling this gaggle of narcissists "entrenched" is a gross understatement.
