Zohran Mamdani has Dems in ‘absolute panic’ over how to handle NYC mayoral bid: Endorse ‘toxic’ brand or risk primary challenge

Democrats are in “absolute panic” over Zohran Mamdani’s stunning New York City Democratic mayoral primary win — fearing he could be “toxic” for the party but worried about possible primary challenges if they don’t endorse him, sources told The Post.

Congressional Dems are “afraid” of Mamdani supporters setting up opponents to incumbents, including Reps. Dan Goldman, Jerry Nadler and even Grace Meng and Adriano Espaillat “could be a target,” a New York Democratic source said Monday.

“It’s not hesitancy, it’s absolute panic and fear – and fear that not only are they saddled with (Gov.) Kathy Hochul’s very bad polling numbers, now they have to deal with the toxic impact of Zohran Mamdani in the outer boroughs and suburbs,” the source said.

Hochul, and the other Dem leaders, now find themselves in a bind and many have held off on publicly endorsing the mayoral nominee — nearly a week after he bested former Gov. Andrew Cuomo by 70,000 votes in the first round of the ranked-choice primary.

The avowed socialist’s shocking win has garnered national attention, sparking talk of a new, left-wing political movement in the Big Apple and beyond.

While several top Democrats have congratulated Mamdani for the race he ran focused on affordability, many have hedged or dodged when asked about whether they would endorse him, including the governor.

“I mean, I’m allowed to have all the conversations I want to make a decision,” Hochul said when pressed about her decision on whether to endorse during an unrelated event Monday.

Hochul said she had the “first of what I consider being many conversations” with Mamdani on Sunday.

A source close to Hochul explained endorsing Mamdani could be toxic for the governor as she eyes re-election next year and needs to stay in moderate Democrats’ and Republicans’ good graces.

The problem is, you have Sliwa, Adams, and Cuomo splitting the vote so Mamdani wins easily that is the problem..by those three staying in the race together, they guarantee the Jihadist prick wins

I live in Hawaii. Hawaii would not even be a state were it not for our Military usefulness.
Explain to me what use is MODERN New York state to our country?

This guy is the most shallow, affected, and pretentious asshole I’ve seen in politics.

His fat baby cheeks and the way they are accentuated by his apparent need to open his mouth so wide when he speaks; his trendy little teensy microphone; the drama of putting his hand over his heart; and his absolute ignorance of economics all combine to make him revolting.

New York, Get A Clue! You used to be a great city.

If they endorse Adams, they lose the youth and Muslim votes.

If they endorse Mamdani, they lose everybody else.

When faced with such a hopeless dilemma, the party will do what it does best - cheat.

Yep, I heard Trump today on the radio “Do the right thing or you get no money” lol lol.

I don’t know what happened to that city, it’s like the most insane of the left took it over. Government run groceries stores? What the hell is this guy talking about? Soviet style bread lines? And $30 an hour minimum wage? No cops? Freeze rent? Tax white people? They’ll have 100 mile long traffic jams of U-Hauls moving out.

RE: This punk may be GOD’s judgment on a wicked NYC.

I wonder.

But why aren’t all FReepers on board with me that this nomination and victory is a GOOD thing?

It ends the notion of the coverup lies that Dems are not so bad. They are bad.

They are like their buddies the Islamists who lie all the time to infidels.

Get it out in the open: The Dems want to destroy America, fundamentally change the system and keep socialist/Communists in power for decades to come.

Some Americans voted for Bernie Sanders to be in the US Senate. Funny old white haired guy. /S

We have to make the New Yorkers look as bad as they are.

No holds barred now.

At first look, Mamdani seems like a charismatic guy with a charming smile, but look at his eyes. His big smile never reaches his eyes. They always have a dangerous glint to them. When he isn’t smiling, his eyes are even more dangerous looking.

'His big smile never reaches his eyes.'

That's exactly true. He's completely 'made-up'. There's no substance there.

True, but I think there is more to what I see in his eyes aside from lack of substance. I think he hides a dangerous personality.

If “Mamdani” (actual name) is elected it will most likely destroy what remains of NYC.

If I live several states away will this hurt me? If yes, how?

Well, I think he’s frivolous and stupid - which, combined with a certain canniness with regard to modern popular culture - can be dangerous in their own ways.

The facade, in my opinion, is FAR TOO RADICAL, even for NYC voters, to have the kind of WIDE-REACHING appeal necessary to WIN an election in NYC.

Are they vampires?! Unable to stand their own reflection?

Mamdani is thr true core of the democrat party. If they don’t like him, they don’t like themselves.

The truth is he let the cat out of the bag. He is supposed to believe and do all this stuff. He’s just supposed to lie about it.

I hope Mamdani is elected mayor. He will create further chaos within the Democrat party as they try to deal with the hard left Progressive wing. He will inflict more damage upon the party’s brand as they go into the mid-terms and the 2028 elections. He will drive a deeper wedge between Wall Sreet billionaires and the Democrat Party.

Hard left lunacy seems like the demon rat future if AOC/Mamdani are any indication. For quite a while now we’ve all been wondering where is the youth of the Democrat party…

IMO, she’s trying to decide whether endorsing him is career suicide or not.
