Microsoft is saying hello to the Black Screen of Death error message instead.
The Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) has held strong in Windows for nearly 40 years, but that’s about to change. Microsoft revealed earlier this year that it was overhauling its BSOD error message in Windows 11, and the company has now confirmed that it will soon be known as the Black Screen of Death. The new design drops the traditional blue color, frowning face, and QR code in favor of a simplified black screen.
The simplified BSOD looks a lot more like the black screen you’d see during a Windows update. But it will list the stop code and faulty system driver that you wouldn’t always see during a crash dump. IT admins shouldn’t need to pull crash dumps off PCs and analyze them with tools like WinDbg just to find out what could be causing issues.

“This is really an attempt on clarity and providing better information and allowing us and customers to really get to what the core of the issue is so we can fix it faster,” says David Weston, vice president of enterprise and OS security at Microsoft, in an interview with The Verge. “Part of it just cleaner information on what exactly went wrong, where it’s Windows versus a component.”
Microsoft says it will roll out this new BSOD design in an update to Windows 11 “later this summer,” alongside its new Quick Machine Recovery feature, which...

Or get your bank account drained. I absolutely do not use a computer to access my bank. Nor do I use a phone. I actually *GO* to the bank, and withdraw money.
My computers have no credit card information on them, and no personal information on them either.
I don't trust them, and I know they can be hacked.
Maybe some people think Microsoft can protect you with their security methods, but I prefer not to trust them and don't put anything on the computer that can allow access to my personal life.

It was a Commodore Amiga 500. Pretty much the cheapest PC emulator so I could do my CS homework in the 1990’s. Awesome video and audio processor (good for video games) and one of its selling points was making graphics videos with packages like the Video Toaster, like Monday Night Football did at the time with the cartoonish helmet logos and pre-game stats swirling onto the screen while the hosts discussed the upcoming game.
The OS was made by Microsoft but wasn’t DOS or Windows (Microsoft had made the chip OS for the earlier Commodore 64). And when I wasn’t running the PC emulator to do my college work, I could make programs that let me experiment with the math processor and also tweak the display. That was when I’d be most likely to run into guru meditation error screens like this:

The chips had names like Denise and Agnus instead of numbers like IBM’s 8386. If you upgraded the chips it was with the Super Denise or Fat Agnus or even Fatter Agnus. lol. I don’t think those chip names would go well today.

Your computer operating system is not responsible for your bank account. You can’t get drained if you don’t click on the link. Most bank account draining events started with a click on a link, either in an email message or a bogus web browser page.

Amiga was a competitor to the original Macintosh using the Motorola 68000 processor family. 680x0 was a great chip for graphics and number crunching. I think Amiga could have been much better had Commodore not bought the company. Commodore was a cheap computer company with poor quality control. Still Amiga kind of died off when Mac started making color machines and moved to RS6000 architecture. Anyone who ever owned an Amiga will rave about it. Some are still working. I never used one because I was a Mac guy.

Most bank account draining events started with a click on a link, either in an email message or a bogus web browser page. Actually, most bank account draining occurs because of malicious key logging software that captures the URL, username and password you typed in and relays it to a hacker. That's why you should use a password safe so you don't type any of that in, just copy and paste it from the password safe.

As I was scrolling down my , unprepared for what I was about to see, my heart stopped, it was nearly the black screen of death for me.

I’ve never had a blue screen of death and I’m sticking with the rock solid Windows 7. I tried Linux, but it seems more geared towards liberal geeks. I had trouble with my track pad and someone responded with 20 lines of code. I can’t learn computer hacking at my age.

Linux has matured quite a bit. I have Linux Mint on my basement computer that I spend a lot of time on. It’s pretty much like being on Windows. It’s probably more secure than Windows 7 at this point, but as long as you don’t log into bank accounts and other financial accounts it wouldn’t be a problem.

Yeah I remember the Amiga I just never heard about the red guru error screen. I grew up with Atari 800s and the later 130XE designed when Jack Tramiel came over from Commodore.
To: Tell It Right
I remember seeing some cool programs and games for the Amiga when it came out. My cousin was using the C64 and C128 so I knew what was going on with the rival company since I was tied to the Atari platform back then.

Sorry, I hope I didn’t give you an anxiety attack. On both pictures. I do use the BSoD on my work computer as a background picture. Scares the IT guy. Love it. :D

IMAGINE IF INSTEAD OF CRYPTIC TEXT STRINGS,
YOUR COMPUTER PRODUCED ERROR MESSAGES IN HAIKU...
A file that big?
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Yesterday it worked
Today it is not working
Windows is like that
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Stay the patient course
Of little worth is your ire
The network is down
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Three things are certain:
Death, taxes, and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
You step in the stream,
but the water has moved on.
This page is not here.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Out of memory.
We wish to hold the whole sky,
But we never will.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Having been erased,
The document you’re seeking
Must now be retyped.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Rather than a beep
Or a rude error message,
These words: “File not found.”
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
The Web site you seek
cannot be located but
endless more exist.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
ABORTED effort:
Close all that you have.
You ask way too much.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
First snow, then silence.
This thousand dollar screen dies
so beautifully.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
With searching comes loss
and the presence of absence:
“My Novel” not found.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
The Tao that is seen
Is not the true Tao, until
You bring fresh toner.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Windows NT crashed.
I am the Blue Screen of Death.
No one hears your screams.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
A crash reduces
your expensive computer
to a simple stone.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Error messages
cannot completely convey.
We now know shared loss.
