Can someone help with getting the notification popup window at the bottom right of the screen to show the notifications again?
For instance, I used to get the popup window notification to show immediately when a Youtube video was downloaded. Not getting the window anymore. Now, up at the top right on the Youtube page there is a bell that will show the number of new videos since the last time I checked but if I don't constantly check, I never know. Not to mention the bell has when the videos were loaded all messed up - 1 hour ago, followed by one from yesterday, followed by one downloaded 23 seconds ago, followed by one downloaded 5 hours ago and then, surprise, they go through a rinse and repeat.
Yes, I've unsubscribed yt channels and re-subbed, but it doesn't help. I've scrolled through Setting - Notifications turning different things on and off, but it doesn't help. I've turned the computer on and off, but id doesn't help. I've called my paid for browser/vpn/whatever but they can't help. I've installed the latest versions of this and that, but it doesn't help.
I just want the bottom right hand corner little popup notification window to start showing again. I'm sure it is some obscure on/off button. Thanks for any help.
Iām using Windows 3.1.
Will that work for me?

Bottom right corner of the OS (i.e., the system tray) or bottom right corner of the YouTube site?
Pop ups for the system tray are usually what are called toast notifications. Are you using Windows 11? If you click on the date/time in the bottom right corner, it should bring up the toast notification bar on the right. Top right corner is a little bell that allows you to select notifications you see. Is “Do Not Disturb” turned on? You can click to modify the notification settings or go to System > Notifications and select the apps that are allowed to show notifications
Whatever update corresponds to your issue most likely is the problem. But I surmise that you are using the default MS browser Edge, which also can update itself. Related to notifications by Edge is, https://www.askvg.com/tip-enable-or-disable-system-notifications-in-microsoft-edge/. and https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/manage-website-notifications-in-microsoft-edge-0c555609-5bf2-479d-a59d-fb30a0b80b2b

By accepting this agreement or using the software, you agree to receive these types of automatic updates without any additional notice
However, it provides the means and even the tool to prevent certain updates, thus such can be delayed, while the license does not yet forbid overcoming loss of functionality due to updates. I myself, in W/11 Pro, use Explorer Patcher (ver. 22621) to enable such lost functionality as Quick Launch bar, and multilevel Taskbar, etc., along with OpenShell start menu. See FR post here.
Thanks be to God.
I clicked on your link, decided it wasn’t useful and tried to use the “back” button on my browser, and it just reloaded the Microsuck page again and again every time I tried.
I had to go back into my browsing history to get back here and break out of the loop.
This is behavior I have come to expect from annoying scammy advertising sites. But then Microsuck IS scammy and annoying.
See my above posts, and while it seems that the Windows key and i shortcut no longer works, if you Run C:\Windows\System32\control.exe /name Microsoft.WindowsUpdate and hit System and then Notifications, then you can make sure they are turned On, and that Do not disturb is Off (whatever the slider says is the present choice). And under Related Settings or Notifications from apps.., when you open that up and choose Name then you can see and choose what apps to see Notifications from.
Sorry about that, I always open links in a new tab and then close the whole tab so I would not have noticed. I just grabbed that link out of search because it was first and looked official.
But those sites that won’t let you go like that is why I now have my browser set to always open links in another tab... On top of being easier to copy and paste stuff from one site to another when I need to.
Thanks!
Did you try a different BROWSER?
I use BRAVE and they just did an update that turned off some things I use...................
Yes, the don’t disturb bell is off.
Thanks. I kept clicking around on Notifications and found an extra section/window and turned on everything that could be. Have waited several minutes and no notifications have popped up. Nowhere does Youtube specifically show up on the list and specific apps aren’t shown anyway. Youtube is a Chrome app and have Chrome checked. There is “apps” on the list “assuming” it should be on since the list only lets you remove items. There is an “add apps” box but you can’t add any so don’t know what’s with that.
Yes, there is a notification box associated with the time/date that is at the top right but it is worthless only ever showing graphics needs to be updated and that is something that has been checked in the above paragraph.
I’m sure I didn’t explain anything. Thanks for helping. I’m just dumbfounded.
No, I’m still on Avast. Coincidentally, they just now did an update and added a lot including notifications so I called them, again. The PC police will be upset but I am so sick and tired of foreigners. Anyway I added Youtube to the Do Not Disturb and made it to where I’d get notifications from them but nothing yet. It isn’t what I want because I’m thinking the notifications will appear in the date/time thing meaning it would have to be clicked on, expanded and whatever to see what’s there when the little popup at the bottom right I know immediately what it is and can ignore it or jump right to it.
I’ve waited a few minutes and nothing.
I just want what I had before, whaaa!
Good advice, thanks!
WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!
It is fixed! Of course, I have no clue how it got fixed. I got hyper and started clicking and clicking. I think the last thing I clicked was changing the display of notifications to 1 popup instead of 2. It was at the page that has pictures of the popups. Never mind I’d had it that way a dozen times before.
Thanks to all. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your time and effort everyone.
It’s possible that the notification you were seeing was an application-specific notification on the YouTube website itself. They may have changed their code or there’s a setting in YouTube itself that was changed. You might jump into your YouTube settings to see if anything stands out.
