Vanity - How do I get the popup window at the bottom right to show notifications again?

Can someone help with getting the notification popup window at the bottom right of the screen to show the notifications again?

For instance, I used to get the popup window notification to show immediately when a Youtube video was downloaded. Not getting the window anymore. Now, up at the top right on the Youtube page there is a bell that will show the number of new videos since the last time I checked but if I don't constantly check, I never know. Not to mention the bell has when the videos were loaded all messed up - 1 hour ago, followed by one from yesterday, followed by one downloaded 23 seconds ago, followed by one downloaded 5 hours ago and then, surprise, they go through a rinse and repeat.

Yes, I've unsubscribed yt channels and re-subbed, but it doesn't help. I've scrolled through Setting - Notifications turning different things on and off, but it doesn't help. I've turned the computer on and off, but id doesn't help. I've called my paid for browser/vpn/whatever but they can't help. I've installed the latest versions of this and that, but it doesn't help.

I just want the bottom right hand corner little popup notification window to start showing again. I'm sure it is some obscure on/off button. Thanks for any help.

Did you save any restore points by any chance?

System Restore can make fixing things much easier sometimes.

Trial and error, indeed. An instruction book would be 10 miles thick. One day it worked, the next poof! Of course, the keyboard is the cats’ major highway to everywhere so they’re always messing things up so who knows.

look in Settings, Windows update. That should tell your update history.

The Windows 11 script kiddies have a habit of changing your stuff without asking you with their forced updates.

I had to do System Restore several times to get rid of their “updates”, until I stumbled across a way to stop the auto updates which they cram down our throats.

Yeah, but on my machine System Restore sucks up 3 hours of my life with the chance that it won’t work.

Good tip, though - it’s what I had to do to get the system back the way I wanted it - 3 or 4 times.

Great idea but it won’t restore before a few days ago.

Oh cats... Lol

I guess that should always be the first question to ask...

“Do you own a cat?” lol

Well Linux is not cat proof either... :)

Go to the command prompt window
Back out until just the : C> prompt.
Type in [DEL *.*] and hit return.
Problem solved.

How many Restore points have you got? My machine shows May 5th as the oldest.

If you right click on the date and time in the bottom lower right hand corner, you should be able to access Notifications in Settings.

I have Windows 11, and when I right click on the date and time, I get two choices in Settings - Adjust Date and Time, and Notifications settings.

Yeah, I lied about May 5th - my oldest is May 12th.

Thanks for making me check the oldest, though! :)

My oldest is May 29 and this was happening 4-6 weeks or so ago. No, can’t right click a date.
