Re: "Rare Earth"
LOL - I thought the link related to the Trump-Zelensky agreement to mine Rare Earth minerals in Ukraine!
Zelensky has a band now?

Did not fit Motown, an all white band and many commentators said so.

Written by the great Smokey Robinson and recorded by the band itself.

Saw them in Sacramento-early 70’s. Opened up with Hey Big Brother. Focus your eye on the filthy sky-really? In that version Get Ready the guitar player came to a stop and paused when it was his turn.
Big Brother will always be with us. It doesn’t take much for them to set off the disfigured to their benefit. Think of the Yogi/Boo Boo comments here. Look at all the homeless encampments. All it takes is a spark for them to go off. We needed 4 years to secure the border, something they said was secure. They only needed George Floyd, a waste of human skin.

The Rare Earth version charted higher than the Temptations version. I liked the Temps a tad more.

I followed your link and did not care for that song too much but then I looked below and saw this nice jam about the same period (1970 Fillmore East).
Cowgirl in the Sand by Neil Young and Crazy Horse They really jam; I hate Young's politics but some of his songs ... wow.

On 8 Track I could listen to this tape for hours. I knew every break, every beat, every word. This tape and the Best of the Buffalo Springfield.

I prefer that edition by far. Thanks!
My sister and I play, ‘Song of the Day’ and text songs to one another that we think are AWESOME (1960’s through 1980’s) and then critique one another’s, ‘awful taste in music.’ ;)

Great song title!
Rare Earth version seemed to be bluesie-hippified version of the temps original version. Can you say derivative?

Loved Rare Earth. The drummer was the band leader and the lead vocal. They were JUST as good live as on recordings. They had a GREAT sax man also. Too much!
