New NOAA Hurricane Season Outlook Issued: More Active Than Average Season Expected

Confidence is growing that a more active than average Atlantic hurricane season is about to begin in just over a week. NOAA is now forecasting a 6-in-10 chance of an above-average hurricane season.

By The Numbers: NOAA expects 13 to 19 storms to form in 2025, six to 10 of which will become hurricanes and three to five of which will reach Category 3 status or stronger, according to the outlook released Thursday.

These ranges are on the high side of the 30-year average for both hurricanes and storms. The range for the number of hurricanes is slightly shy of 2024's total of 11.

NOAA's outlook is consistent, but on the low side of other outlooks issued recently by The Weather Company and by Colorado State University's tropical forecast team.

“Hopefully they leave Florida alone and concentrate on Texas for a change.”

I actually would prefer that a hurricane hit New England like it did in 1938. In addition to making all the Marxists miserable it will raze all of the offshore wind turbines and saturate the beaches with metal and fiberglass shards that will take decades to clean up.

Notice they only give it a 60 percent chance of being above normal. I don’t remember them ever before hedging their prediction of an above average hurricane season.

So if it is above average they can say, “Hey we were right!”

And if it’s not above average they can say, “Hey, we only thought there was a slight chance it would be above normal.”

Hurricane Sandy was more recent

It doesn’t benefit them in any way to predict a “less than normal” amount of hurricane activity.

Should they make that prediction, the Climate Cultists will jump down their throats. If that prediction is accurate, it will never be mentioned in the left-led press. If that prediction is inaccurate, they will not be allowed to forget it and their professional reputation will be trashed.

Thus, every year, they will predict a “worse than normal” hurricane season. It is a no-lose prediction.

"...More Active Than Average Season Expected"

The annual BS!
Try to find a year in which this was NOT a pronouncement...

The communist doctrine using "climate change" as one of its most important strategies, continues to operate very well...

What fool would predict LOWER and subsequently lose funding?

Better grossly wrong and grossly overpaid.

They say that every year and so far have been batting about zero.

But some year, they are bound to be right by sheer chance.

True. One thing that is fair is that we chose to move here so when we get teased about Florida, well……it was our choice. lol.

LOL, the worst part was after getting back in, I accidentally knocked one of the kapok filled life jackets (that I had traded a couple of groupers for) over the side while we were cleaning up the boat. It sank!

Every year the Climate Change fear mongers over at NOAA dispatch their annual “worst year every” predictions. Based upon their past accuracy, they should wait until the season is over and then make their predictions based upon the actual events in retrospect.

“You’d have been better off consulting the Farmers Almanac.”

I use that story to introduce a how-to booklet on faith sharing by underscoring the importance of warning others about impending calamity. At the time of that experience, I was lost as a golf ball in high grass, spiritually. No one called out a warning to me about either the storm, or the danger my soul was in. Fortunately, God had other plans for me other than a watery grave, which he put into place eleven years later. That was thirty-two years ago this past March, and I’ve never looked back.

Not true. Kona winds vs. Trade winds. Golf courses are affected.. Holes build for Trade winds are sometimes unreachable when you have strong Kona, and vice versus. Drive Par 4s built for Trade winds when Kona winds blow.
