Seems like a bad situation that people managed to make worse.

USPS? There's a Dark side to this story. A USPS Dark chocolate side.
Dig a little deeper, and you will find that the story Darkens.

A lot of chicks die in the mail.

Every spring, the local PO has boxes of chirping chicks. One day I saw a live delivery box, but instead of happy chirps, the box was silent.

I asked the clerk about that, and she just drew her finger across her throat.

Money for nothing and your chicks for free.

One way to judge people is how they treat helpless animals. The USPS obviously failed here, bigly.

A process breakdown? Obviously, the postal worker didn’t give a hoot about live birds. I hope the person gets tracked down and fired.

Might be hard to count the chicks because they all look pretty much alike.

The tornadoes in Kentucky Friday night destroyed a building on a chicken farm--the next day hundreds of now-homeless chickens were to be seen.

Must be a very, very large truck. To help relieve the problem I’ll take all the blondes between the ages of 25 & 35.

So the post office screwed up. Way back when I was younger, you could order 100 chicks by mail C.O.D. (cash on delivery).

When my Dad went to pick his up, he was offered another 100 at a discount because the person refused to pick them up.

Changing the subject, but I got a good USPS story. My post office does not sell stamps, money orders and they do not take cash. Been going on now over 8 months.

I now go to the neighboring post office to mail stuff.

If all survive...half will be destroyed because they’re male.

In Iowa/Nebraska, places can’t keep chicks in stock & a lot of people have resorted to mail order which significantly increases the cost.

It has been a problem for a long time - maybe not so bad as lately. But my grandmother used to recite this little gem:

"If ever I hope to reach the Pearly Gates,
I hope I am not sent by Postal Service.
It would be embarrassing to arrive marked "DAMAGED IN TRANSIT"
Or - God forbid - not to arrive at all."

What occurred? Pretty damn obvious some mail carrier got to close to clock out time and just parked his truck not giving a rats ass what happened to all those chicks……probably went for barbecue and beers sayin its five o’clock and not my problem.
