I am not calling for a ban on coffee, just making an observation.
Flame away.
I had a cup of coffee every morning before I retired; it was something I really wanted - and being a plain, hot black coffee person I was never interested in Starbucks.
Now retired, I drink it if my husband has made it, but I’m just not that interested in it anymore (???)
I think I prefer tea, now, and will probably give up coffee altogether.
I’m a coffee ritualist. Unabashed.
What can we say? Some people like their Starbucks.
Did Starbucks become popular with yuppies,? Is that how it became such a huge company?
Two in the morning and one around 3pm and that’s it for the day. And only the best like Peets as an example.
I enjoy my coffee, but I rarely go to Starbucks. My wife and I split a pot of half-caf coffee daily (sometimes a bit more).
It’s tasty stuff but I don’t like messing with caffeine. Caffeine is a drug that isn’t quite worth the trouble in my books.
I’m a coffee snob and I would drink ditch water before Starbucks over-roasted sad quality beans.
I generally stick to Camerons light roasted decaf beans and make my coffee via pour-over ritual.
If I’m going to a drive through, it will be Black Rock or Human Bean.
I’m usually running about a quart low on coffee at any given time of the day. Being an over-the-road truck driver I always have a hot cup near by.
I don’t drink it to keep myself awake - I can drink a 20 oz cup of the hottest, blackest, thickest coffee you ever saw and go right to sleep. I drink it for something to do while I’m driving.
I quit smoking and now chew toothpicks. Coffee is just like the toothpicks - something to do while I cover the miles.
2 cups each morning. Any more than that and I have to pee all day
No it cuts into my recreational heroine money
One cup in the morning.
My wife used to really like Dunkin. Not so much anymore.
The 23 year old young lady behind me stops at Starbucks everyday. She still lives with her parents.
She buys a $7-9 coffee.
Last week I asked her if she ever did the math on what she is spending just on coffee annually? Over $2000. She is trying to cut back now.
We drink Folgers Black Silk. It’s the best coffee I’ve ever had, and I never even liked coffee. It has chocolate undertones. Coffee snobs eschew it, I’m sure, but they ought to try it; it’s awesome!
I drink it for health reasons.
That would be the health of those around me.
Coffee. Because murder is wrong.
2-3 cups of strong French Roast with real whipping cream. Once in awhile I mix it with Chai tea and a bit of sweetener. So good. Strange thing is I really crave it at night.
We grind Peet’s Major Dickason beans in our wall-mounted Arcade Crystal #3 grinder and brew it in a Cuisinart coffee maker.
I know there are more ‘purist’ ways to brew it, but we have been doing the same thing for 30 years and we’re quite happy with our ritual.
My wife might be addicted, since she gets a wicked headache until she has her morning cup. I guess I’m not addicted since I don’t get a headache and I usually skip the coffee when she’s not around.
What AI program wrote that piece?....”the average American drinks 2-3 cups of coffee...”...uh ..per what time period?
The highest COFFEE intake is 380mg? I think AI meant to write..highest CAFFEINE intake is 380mg...per day, per cup, what?
A cup of coffee is 12, 16, or 20 oz. Is 20 oz..1.7 times 12 oz..so 20 oz is 1.7 cups of coffee? Author(?) then mentions that “if you have an 8 oz. Cup of coffee”...so now a cup of coffee is 8 oz?
Caffeine overdose is 500mg...per day? Per single intake?
Left out the fact that side effects of caffeine can be heart palpitations, racing heart rate, and even seizures if enough is given.
Overall...one of the most poorly written and ignorant bit of information I have ever seen.
P.S. I agree with you that watching people wait 10-20 min. In their idling car for drive up coffee at Starbucks is the epitome of chemical addiction.
I make “cowboy” coffee if I need it. Much cheaper and less time spent waiting in line.
Three measures of whether we are in a depression...if we are in a depression, no one drinks boutique coffee, no one takes vacation in a foreign destination, and very , very, few will gamble.
One a day to get my morning started and perhaps one more later in the day just for the aroma and taste.
I would like to know how they figured out you had to roast them first
