Pure BS!
Once again the me medical “experts” have no clue but still expect everyone to defer to them.
Two psychology bozettes carrying the pharma water.
I don’t want to say its vaccines but.....
i thought the definition had been broaden to qualify more kids for additional attention in school
which means more money
Have autism cases increased or are more cases being diagnosed so that the parents can get Federal assistance?
Plain old birth defect (but why rising?)
-older parents
-vaccine reactions way more shots
-indulgent parenting
-neglectful parenting (screens, daycare)
-increase in diagnosis due to being cool and getting funds
-and my number one suspicion: psych meds used by the parents before or during pregnancy. Dad as well as mom.
I think the authorities need to take one of two courses of action:
1) Identify a biological cause for the apparent increase: age of parent? Food additives? Vaccines? What? Find a culprit and tell people that if this one thing is modified, then the rate of autism will decrease. Put a stake in the ground and wait for some number of years to pass to see if the mandated change actually affected the rate of autism.
2) Declare that there is no real increase in anything. It’s just a matter of enhanced sensitivity and labeling. The group has been broadened because the “requirements” to be in the group have been loosened. So ... re-tighten those requirements. Make it somewhat difficult to be categorized as autistic. Some kids are autistic and have genuine special needs. And some kids are just annoying/difficult/antisocial/whatever. Let everyone know that the normal kids better straighten up because no one is going to treat them as special. Then divert all the resources to that small segment of kids who are genuinely special.
Sometimes true, statistics became better because of better recording, higher awareness, etc. But, those alone do not explain the increase in autism and why prevalence of other diseases didn’t go up
Peanut allergies started showing up about the same time.
Most of the article is just blah blah blah. The part about “updated diagnostic criteria” is a key. Successive editions of the DSM have broadened the scope of the diagnosis. Kids who used to be called something else are now being given the “spectrum” diagnosis. That’s why other disorders have decreased, while spectrum dx has increased. Or one major reason, at any rate. The vaccine link remains dubious, since it began with a documented scam in UK between a quack doctor and shyster injury lawyer.
Let me guess - no citation to medical literature or double blind studies.
“3 Common Myths to Ignore”
“This is what you will not be allowed to believe.”
Having kids later in life.
The rise is primarily due to the fact that you can get a government entitlement check if your kid is diagnosed with autism.
They added those with Asperger’s into the Autism bucket. I think that’s a mistake. I am very different from those that stim, can’t communicate, and so forth. As someone with this for my whole life, Asperger’s and Autism are NOT the same condition. But it bumps the numbers up.
NY Post carries the rants of two “rent-a-doc” for Big Pharma propaganda.
“One of the most harmful myths is that vaccines cause autism. Decades of research and large-scale studies have repeatedly shown that vaccines do not cause autism. Vaccines are safe and effective, and misinformation can lead to preventable diseases.”
Safe and effective. Now, where have I heard that before?
Is the science "settled" or something like that or will you be censored if you disagree? Asking for a friend...
