Welp, it looks like Trump is going to reopen Alcatraz.

This dude's not messing around. He wants to send our worst criminals out to "The Rock" in the San Francisco Bay.

Here's Trump:

If you've ever visited Alcatraz you know how epic this is.

I'll give you some details on Alcatraz. But first, just look at the place:

Good luck escaping that! Here's why they originally opened the former military prison to U.S. prisoners (notice the similarities to Trump's reasoning):

The Federal Government had decided to open a maximum-security, minimum-privilege penitentiary to deal with the most incorrigible inmates in Federal prisons, and to show the law-abiding public that the Federal Government was serious about stopping the rampant crime of the 1920s and 1930s.

Prisoners such as Al Capone, "Machine-Gun" Kelly, Arthur "Doc" Barker, Robert Stroud, and Alvin Karpis have served time at Alcatraz.

And it's one of the most inescapable prisons on the planet.

Sure, you can get out, but how are you going to get to shore through those gnarly currents?

More info on the prison:

Now a major historical landmark and tourist destination, Alcatraz was once one of the most heavily fortified military sites on the West Coast before it transformed into a notorious federal penitentiary in 1934.

As a maximum-security prison surrounded by the Pacific's strong, cold currents, Alcatraz had a reputation for being a ‘last resort' facility where the most dangerous and most unruly in other prisons were sent. It was virtually impossible to escape, despite numerous storied attempts.

Trump has ordered the reopening of Alcatraz.

And now we have like 3.5 seconds before a judge overturns this decision.

Build it on federal land somewhere.

I prefer the SuperMax concept that they have in Florence, Colorado. Alcatraz sounds kind of fun, and it's got a storied history, but it's not practical or economical.

This is stupid. Alcatraz was closed because it was a crumbling, expensive mess.

If you want to build a new federal super duper unescapeable prison, stick it in a dessert somewhere, or just expand Florance ADX.

You would spend a lot of money refurbishing it.....
I got a better idea...
Take that cash and construct a prison in antarctica with windows that can remotely be opened...

No problems, and if someone wants to escape...
Let them

I agree, and I also agree. Build a prison on one of our remote islands here in AK. There would be essentially zero chance of breaking out.
