Study a fairly new procedure labeled 'MILD' - Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression. That diagnosis is somewhat how I would have described my worsening condition. I did have the advantage of an MRI a little less than two years old. It did show a severe 'stenosis' (narrowing constriction of the spinal column within the spinal canal.) It can be caused by bone thickening of the vertebrae, thickening of the ligamentum flavum, causing ligamentum flavum hypertrophy - or both.
Treatment is surgical but it is relatively minor, done with microscopic instruments inserted through a small incision. Recovery is no where near as severe as major back surgery; in my case almost nothing at all... done this past Tuesday and I was up and about immediately with only minor pain - treated with cold packs.
After two major lumbar surgeries and deteriorating mobility problems, I was concerned with losing my ability to walk. So far I am quite encouraged.
It seems to me that if you cut the annual budget say 25%, that should diminish the $2 trillion dollar budget shortfall from the previous few years.
