Short of force…how else are we supposed to get Russia out of Ukraine?

I wonder if the CIA is already setting up supply routes to the “Free Ukrainian Resistance” in the Donbass? (My name for it, not an official name.)

I imagine that the folks in the occupied area will not go gently into that good night.

From America’s perspective, the best thing to happen over there would be for Russia to conquer Ukraine entirely. It would eliminate a lot of instability and shut down a whole avenue of graft in our government.

Is Putin not already rejecting Trump’s proposals?

Trump makes proposals not solely to try to conclude negotiations with a deal, but also to learn, by their reactions to his proposals, what’s really going on inside the minds of those he’s dealing with.

Frankly, as of 1/20/2025, all the options suck.
* let the Russkies have a big chunk of Ukraine,
* keep fighting and dying, watching cities crumble,
* maybe start WW3.

All the options seem to include the corrupt leadership of Ukraine keeping their billions.

Would he prefer Russia taking the whole country? How about WWIII?

That Rubicon was crossed a long time ago when Bush got the Ukes to give up their nukes. It was gun control for nations, the suicidal psychotic exception being Iran.

Forbes is right in that Russia has captured some Ukrainian acreage and isn’t likely to give it back.
Having said that, I don’t care what happens to the Ukraine.
And neither do the Euroweenies.

So many views. So much opinion. Especially if one accepts the "Trump's war" mantle being lifted onto his shoulders.

If one accepts the "Biden's war," as President Trump has said, then it's a whole other ball game.

What is sure is that MONEY is in the game: "...some of the players -- like Cargill, BNP Asset Management, Vanguard, Blackrock, Norges Bank Investment Management, NCH Capital, Kopernik Global Investors and more will find their 'clever' investments. loans and guarantees fail. "

Oh, let's not forget GoldmanSachs' NN Investment Partners Holdings.

A lot probably depends on where one has placed one bets.....

We walk away, and there';s still the brave, oh so brave EU and that courageous Keir Starmer.

"Starmer has taken the lead, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, in assembling the 'coalition of the willing' in part to persuade Trump to maintain support for Kyiv. One outcome has already been a growing acceptance from European countries in particular that they need to do more secure their own security, including by increasing their defense spending. Macron said he had spoken Friday with both Zelenskyy and Starmer about progress at the U.S.-Ukraine talks earlier this week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which led to Trump resuming military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv."

U.K.'s Starmer convenes 'coalition of the willing' meeting to discuss Ukraine Associated Press, via NPR, 15 March 2025

It's about the wagers on the table. Hit me. Double down. Backstops for the wagers. Guarantees for the bettors.

Biden;s war, says I.

Is this part of the reason the war must continue?

RFK Jr. Drops Truth Bombs: From Joe Biden To BlackRock, Ukraine War

He claimed that Ukraine had already started selling its land, its most valuable asset to companies like Dupont, Cargill and Monsanto, all owned by parent company BlackRock.
BlackRock Inc. is the world’s largest asset managing firm, with $9.42 trillion in assets as of June 30, 2023.

Mr Forbes, a fifth grade boy on the bus ride home could tell you Ukraine won’t beat Russia, that the sooner they get out of this slaughter the better

They’ve been in Black Knight status for years already

The second point, just as important, is Ukraine has nothing to do with the US. They are not in NATO, not in the EU even, they’re not a democracy and any economic advantage they have for us is strictly illicit and forged by the Biden crime family which is unsanctioned by the US and our DOD

Now: I just left the doctors office on this lovely spring morning. I and at least 3 people in my family are quite done with residual effects of your and your cohorts’ sending our best to get maimed and killed in your war games

Our DOD is not Effing going over to help a dancing dictator launder any more US taxpayer money

Enough is enough , stop with the killing or the real killing is gonna start. Believe me if that war starts people like you are going to shoot to the top of the list.

Anyone that thinks Ukraine is going to get all of the occupied land back and reparations from Russia isn’t living in reality. The only way for that to happen is WW3 and there’d be nothing left to salvage of Ukraine. They would’ve been better off taking the peace deal at the beginning of the war instead of listening to all the NATO neocons who will fight right down to the last Ukrainian.

Forbes is wrong on this one. The Uniparty wants to hang the "loss" of Ukraine on Trump. Ukraine lost the proxy war a long time ago. Without the US they have no leverage.

Kissinger said, great diplomats will be “judged in the end not by their cleverness but by their grasp of reality.” The reality on the ground in this 11 year proxy war is that Russia is slowly crushing Ukraine and the longer it goes on, the worse the deal for Ukraine. A look at the map indicates clearly that Ukraine could have had a much better deal in March 2022, yet the UK and the US squashed it in Istanbul.

And the monumental failure of the the Ukrainian invasion of Russia has now ended in ignominious defeat. Ukraine has been ousted eliminating an illusory bargaining chip.

Putin won’t be there forever. Russia has won already and will win if the war goes on. But winning only as defined by territorial gains.
Russia has lost its chance to dominate European energy supply and engage in favorable trade relations with the West. There wouldn’t be much reason for the Silk Road if EU rejects trade from and via Russia. Russia is going to lose on transit fees, logistics fees, road construction.
Obviously, Russia is destroying its already disastrous demographics. Losing young men between 18-35 is tragic for any country economically and military. Just look what happened to France after WW1. The number of men killed in WW1 could not be replaced at the same rate as Germany. As a result, France had a lower GDP and smaller military than Germany in 1939.
By staying out of this war, the US is in a better position relative to Russia. The EU stays within the US orbit because Russia is a pariah nation. China won’t get its Silk Road exports of junk to the EU. The Chinese will still need to ship their junk overseas through vulnerable choke points. The US can focus on China as the primary adversary.
Forbes can make money elsewhere. The Euros will need military equipment and they’ll need to get a lot of it from the US to defend against big bad Russia. I’d expect Wall Street to play this up.
