Anyone that thinks Ukraine is going to get all of the occupied land back and reparations from Russia isn’t living in reality. The only way for that to happen is WW3 and there’d be nothing left to salvage of Ukraine. They would’ve been better off taking the peace deal at the beginning of the war instead of listening to all the NATO neocons who will fight right down to the last Ukrainian.

Re:the neocons
Think about all the money that can be made by rebuilding the incinerated nations of the West after a total nuclear WW3! Trillions, even Quadrillions of dollars. Sure, most of the people will be dead and radiation will linger for a thousand years, but eventually everything will be restored and life will go on. We might have three heads and other anomalies, but we can think of it as progress in evolution.

But negotiate and let Russia have a slice of Ukraine? Never! We will destroy the world first, in order to save democracy in the Donbas!

Forbes is wrong on this one. The Uniparty wants to hang the "loss" of Ukraine on Trump. Ukraine lost the proxy war a long time ago. Without the US they have no leverage.

Kissinger said, great diplomats will be “judged in the end not by their cleverness but by their grasp of reality.” The reality on the ground in this 11 year proxy war is that Russia is slowly crushing Ukraine and the longer it goes on, the worse the deal for Ukraine. A look at the map indicates clearly that Ukraine could have had a much better deal in March 2022, yet the UK and the US squashed it in Istanbul.

And the monumental failure of the the Ukrainian invasion of Russia has now ended in ignominious defeat. Ukraine has been ousted eliminating an illusory bargaining chip.

And now they can’t admit their mistake so many more must die for nothing.

To call Ukraine a democracy is also a joke. Ukraine is not our ally or a strategic partner. Why are we so involved?

By this standard, we should NEVER have had any dealings with China after they invaded Tibet or a dozen other examples of countries invading others...

Putin won’t be there forever. Russia has won already and will win if the war goes on. But winning only as defined by territorial gains.
Russia has lost its chance to dominate European energy supply and engage in favorable trade relations with the West. There wouldn’t be much reason for the Silk Road if EU rejects trade from and via Russia. Russia is going to lose on transit fees, logistics fees, road construction.
Obviously, Russia is destroying its already disastrous demographics. Losing young men between 18-35 is tragic for any country economically and military. Just look what happened to France after WW1. The number of men killed in WW1 could not be replaced at the same rate as Germany. As a result, France had a lower GDP and smaller military than Germany in 1939.
By staying out of this war, the US is in a better position relative to Russia. The EU stays within the US orbit because Russia is a pariah nation. China won’t get its Silk Road exports of junk to the EU. The Chinese will still need to ship their junk overseas through vulnerable choke points. The US can focus on China as the primary adversary.
Forbes can make money elsewhere. The Euros will need military equipment and they’ll need to get a lot of it from the US to defend against big bad Russia. I’d expect Wall Street to play this up.

Nah…a corrupt Ukraine divided among Poland, Hungary, Belorussia, and Russia would stabilize the region and end the Kakistocracy known as Ukraine

The separatist movement in the Donbass is filled with ethnic Russians. Those wishing to align with Ukraine left in 2014. There will be no organic “Free Ukrainian Resistance in the Donbass or Crimea.

That’s a nice little fantasy. Now how do you propose to make that happen?

That Rubicon was crossed a long time ago when Bush got the Ukes to give up their nukes.

Ukraine was part of the USSR until 1991. Those nukes belonged to Russia.

Sure, it's unfortunate that Russia is likely to be successful in taking parts of Ukraine. But how do you stop them? How much will it cost in money and lives, and are we willing to pay that price?

I'd say whoever is willing to pay that price, go ahead. Good luck.

All I know is that I'm not willing to pay that price to rescue a small amount of territory along the Russian-Ukraine border.

Maybe you a$$hole! Why don’t you go over there and fight since you seem to think American people should fight for the grifters in the EU and the crooks in Ukraine.

Is Ukraine entry to NATO not an option ? or is that the WWIII trigger ?

NATO expansion is what triggered this war in 2014. Now the US and Europe are backing down from the call for Ukraine to be in NATO. Dead letter now.

Cease fire in place.

Wait for regime change in Russia—Putin won’t live forever.

Reassess then.

“From America’s perspective, the best thing to happen over there would be for Russia to conquer Ukraine entirely.”

Sure. Then the NYT can send a modern day Walter Duranty over there to tell us how there’s no starvation.

It doesn’t take a genius to notice that the people who whine the loudest about “democracy” are the same ones who are hell-bent on toppling elected governments and rigging elections.

The difference in 2025 is that nobody with half a brain would care what the NYT had to say about anything.

I don’t pay much attention to You Tubers.

If I did a raving looney like Russell Brand would have more cred than Stevie boy.

I always thought Forbes was a “money” magazine.

So when Stevie starts talking foreign policy, then it must be about the money which is in this the case, globalist grift.

That still leaves significant portion of the population.
