After Ukraine, the Baltics, Netherlands, and Poland. After that Romania and Bulgaria. After that Germany France, Spain Portugal.

Europe would be pretty much stable by then so Russia could move on to the UK and the US.

“Pushing on Ukraine”? Trump doesn’t own Ukraine. The only leverage Trump holds over Ukraine is the fact that our costly contributions are the only things facilitating their war. Meanwhile we face increasing Pacific and Middle East threats with an economy which was gutted by the scourge who ran the Biden administration.

They all suck.

Again, that had no affect on Ukraine's ability to neuter Putin or Russia. For they were useless to them. Just for the record it was Clinton that was involved in that in 1994. Bush I served from 1989-1992.

U.S. President Clinton, Russian President Yeltsin, and Ukrainian President Kravchuk after signing the Trilateral Statement in Moscow on 14 January 1994.

The Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances comprises four substantially identical political agreements signed at the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) in Budapest, Hungary, on 5 December 1994, to provide security assurances by its signatories relating to the accession of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The four memoranda were originally signed by four nuclear powers: Ukraine, Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

If you find it unacceptable then grab your rifle and go to Ukraine yourself Steve. Feel free to battle it out in the Donbas to your hearts’ content.

I wish Freepers would stop posting that silly nonsense about Ukraine “giving up its nukes” in 1991.

There is simply no way on God’s green earth that the U.S., UK and France would ever have allowed another nuclear-armed country to be established in Europe at the time — especially one as dysfunctional and corrupt as Ukraine.

****************************

Ukraine would’ve just sold them off for cash, if they had actually gotten control of them.

On a side note. The Ukrainian woman I was in relationship with from 1998-2002, was robbed of $300 by a custom agent in Kiev. She either paid him off or missed her flight.( I funded her trip in 2000)

I’ve been writing letters and trying to collect for 25 years.

My last letter was sent to Zelensky with a BB gun to help in the war effort, in exchange for 50% reduction in stolen money.

The little ingrate never got back to me.

Putin’s death won’t change Russia’s strategic national interests. No Russian leader will accept Ukraine’s entry into NATO. Nor will he cede Crimea back to Ukraine.

Nations don’t have permanent allies, just permanent interests. Someone far worse than Putin could replace him.

For HUNDREDS of years Ukraine WAS Russia.

Crimea was NOT controlled by Ukraine. TURKEY pretty much controlled it and it was a Khanate.

Russia took it from ISLAM, NOT from Ukrainians.

Before the 1700s, Crimea was primarily under the control of the Crimean Khanate, which was a vassal state of the Ottoman Empire and followed Islam as its dominant religion.

Here’s a bit more context:

The Crimean Khanate was established in 1441 by Hacı I Giray, a descendant of Genghis Khan, and it lasted until 1783.

It was a successor state to the Golden Horde and maintained strong Turkic and Islamic traditions.

While it was independent in many internal matters, the Khanate acknowledged the suzerainty of the Ottoman Empire from 1478 onward.

Crimea became an important part of the Ottoman frontier, playing roles in both trade and military campaigns, often raiding Eastern Europe and the Russian territories.

The population was largely Muslim Tatars, though there were also Christian and Jewish communities.

The Khanate’s power waned over time, especially as Russia expanded southward. Eventually, in 1783, the Russian Empire under Catherine the Great annexed Crimea, ending centuries of Islamic and Turkic rule.

Prior to Islam the Mongols conquered a CHRISTIAN people, and the mongols gradually converted to Islam, and Turkey exerted dominance.

So, this notion that Russian stole crimea stands at odds with history. Catherine the Great stole it BACK from Islam.

There are no good actors in this Soap Opera. Ukraine: the most corrupt country in Europe, a massive money laundering operation for Washington, Wall Street, the EU, and home to multiple bio labs doing things they don’t want us to know about. Russia: a kleptocracy ruled by a sociopathic thug and his buddies. The criminal miscalculations committed by all parties involved is surely of record proportions in world history. If I had to make a guess this whole thing now is about who has all the incriminating evidence. I think Russia has a lot, but wants it all for leverage, and the top people in Ukraine have a lot which they currently use for leverage to enrich and protect themselves. Yes, the MIC is making a lot of $ on the war (materiel and graft), but it probably pales to insignificance compared to the sums laundered through there over the many decades. I believe the threat of exposure for their crimes is what’s driving most of the pro-Ukraine officials. The outrage of Putin’s invasion by those that count is feigned, and their PR campaign is meant to rally the ignorant to their side. The US needs to move as far away from this as possible. The idiots in Europe have blundered into countless wars for centuries. The US just needs to step away.

Putin is far from being an angel but he looks like a saint compared to the totally corrupt Zelinskyy. It is past time for the US to remove all funding for Ukraine and let the chips fall where they may.

They all suck.

No they don’t all suck - the collapse of the falling & failing Russian economy would mean the end of Putin, and a slight chance that some one less belligerent could gain control and make Russia peaceful

I am with you. On a longer scale, I tipped out when GhW Bush decided that America needed to come to the rescue of tiny country. Iraq was an ally, then came the time to make them our enemy. Thanks for leaving Vets behind in Vietnam, sending McCain to cover that up in the process. Every war since then has been about $$$$. Maybe every war since Korea, and that one was a waste of Americans lives.
