You have no idea how many have had it with this.
Nearly ever single veteran that have been in a battle zone feel just like you do. The only veterans who do not are thise who sat behind desks.

Ask any military medical staff who were over in the mid east if they think we should get into another war.

That is a pipe dream. Russia is keeping the land theyve conquered. Any suggestion to the contrary is absurd. Ukraine should start working on post war security now. The Ukes cant the land back and Russia is not giving it back. Thats just the truth of the matter. Anyone interested in actually ending the war should be prepared for that outcome right now.

Sometimes you have to accept the least bad option.

But, I also understand that the natural state of humans is they don’t like being “occupied.” ... And I never underestimate the CIA’s ability to screw things up.

I agree with both of your statements, especially the one about the CIA. The first one is certainly true as well, but what I don't know is whether or not the people who live in the region consider themselves to be "occupied" or "liberated".

--- "That's a nice little fantasy. Now how do you propose to make that happen?"

--- "How is this 'redeeming all of its lands' going to happen?"

It is fascinating that so many propose something for which they have no actual, detailed plan for their imaginative notions such as the Freeper you challenge:

"A far better outcome would be Ukraine redeeming all of its lands, Russia forced to contribute trillions in reparations to rebuild Ukraine, and Putin's head on a pike."
The "romance" of the statement is of course a sign of impracticability.

In like manner, only now Britain's Starmer has backpedaled on his "nice little fantasy."

"Starmer has taken the lead, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, in assembling the 'coalition of the willing' in part to persuade Trump to maintain support for Kyiv. One outcome has already been a growing acceptance from European countries in particular that they need to do more secure their own security, including by increasing their defense spending. Macron said he had spoken Friday with both Zelenskyy and Starmer about progress at the U.S.-Ukraine talks earlier this week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which led to Trump resuming military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv."

U.K.'s Starmer convenes 'coalition of the willing' meeting to discuss Ukraine Associated Press, via NPR, 15 March 2025

And Macron? He's wording down the "troops" to "reassurance forces" which wouldn't replace Ukrainian troops.
" These forces would 'act as a deterrent against potential Russian aggression,' he told reporters during a press conference following a high-stakes 'Coalition of the Willing' summit for Ukraine in Paris on Thursday. However, these reassurance forces 'are not intended to be peacekeeping forces' as they will not replace the Ukrainian Armed Forces and will not be positioned on the frontlines but instead in 'strategic towns' and bases."

French President Macron announces plan for 'reassurance force' in Ukraine via Euro News, 27 March 2025

So it will be very interesting to read the response to your apt questions. Redeeming lands? Forcing trillions in reparations? Head on a pike? How's that going to happen?

The nukes were not controlled by Ukraine, so that claim has no real substance to it. Like our nuclear weapons, no one person can launch them. Those required authorization fro the Soviet Union’s leader.

Russia needs unhindered access to World trade and that orbits around the Crimea. No Crimea no peace.

I think Steve Forbes needs to check his historical facts a bit better if he wishes to discuss the root causes of the conflict and it would really be nice to have a realistic constructive alternative to the Trump peace initiative.

At this point the reality on the ground is that the Ukraine has lost the war for some time and has spent at least a year fighting and dying with no hope of victory and the fighting has only served to delay the inevitable defeat at the cost of much death and destruction to both itself and Russia.

A very strong case can be made that this continuing death and destruction in Ukraine is a desired goal of Zelensky’s foreign backers.

We have reached the end game of the Ukraine conflict and the Ukraine is running out of options.

Sec of Defense Lloyd Austin has acknowledged that, even with US/NATO military and financial aid, Russia is in a position to over run the Ukrainian army in a matter of weeks in they decide to mount a serious offensive.

Both sides will take heavy losses and there will be much destruction in a major offensive but the Ukraine is in no position to stop the Russians. Worse, once the Russians make a breakthrough, the Ukrainians have very few assets to respond to and halt a Russian breakout in any effective manner.

Like it or not we are in the end game of a losing war and who is to blame or what has transpired in the past really does not matter anymore.

There are three realistic options for the end game.

The first is the Trump peace initiative that stops the fighting and provides the last best chance to help the Ukraine rebuild and recover from the war.

The second is the near term military defeat of the Ukraine by Russia and capitulation on terms far worse than the ones in the Trump peace initiative. Once the possibility of negotiated peace is off the tables, Russia's only realistic option will be to move for a decisive military victory to end the war and they have massed the necessary troops reserves to do so. One reason Trump is putting a deadline for US suspension of peace negotiations is because he is fully aware that May is the decision time for Russia and he wants to make a clean break before then.

The third is foreign military intervention in response to the second option and WWIII. This will cause even more death and destruction and which, given past EU history, will probably come too little and too late prevent a Russian victory. There is also a very real threat of nuclear weapons being used in Ukraine if NATO intervenes.

Frankly, Zelensky is betting on the third option. He aims to engineer a major military crisis in Ukraine to draw NATO into the fight since it is his only realistic option

Anyone else has any great ideas it would be great to hear them , but I think that pretty much sums things up.

Whether or no, Bush I made a point of getting them out of Ukraine, thus indicating intent.

Steve Forbes and Donald Trump have never played well together. Most unfortunate. Steve Forbes would be great as tax reform advisor, finance advisor, etc.

I wish Freepers would stop posting that silly nonsense about Ukraine “giving up its nukes” in 1991.

There is simply no way on God’s green earth that the U.S., UK and France would ever have allowed another nuclear-armed country to be established in Europe at the time — especially one as dysfunctional and corrupt as Ukraine.

Nobody who reads the NYT needs to be deluded about what’s going on in Ukraine in order to support the radical leftist agenda.

There will be no WWIII. Russia can’t take Ukraine. How are they going to fight anyone else? If Russia nukes anywhere in Europe the wind would take the radiation to Russia.

Russia is using Motor cycles to attack Ukraine and donkeys to transport supplies.

The economy in Russia is on the verge of being zero. Russia has to be stopped now. The US needs to sell antiaircraft weapons to Ukraine.

All these lies about everyone and his brother being paid under the table is just Russian lies. Even if it were true Russia needs to stop killing civilians every night.

how else are we supposed to get Russia out of Ukraine?

Arm UKR to the teeth and give them free reign to drive the murdering invaders out of Ukraine.

Russia’s economy will collapse long before that.
