Dear beloved fellow FReepers, please keep my husband in your prayers. John had a massive heart attack at 3:30 AM on April 2, 2025, though his heart was likely emitting C-Reactive Protein two days before. He said that he seemed to have pulled a muscle in his left chest and around his neck. We know better now. He had been doing some work around the house.
I called 911 and about roomful of FD EMTs and techs and others showed along with an ambulance not long after. The firehouse is right up the street from us. PRAISE THE LORD.
John was taken straightaway to the hospital ER and straight to the Cath Lab, where I waited out in the SICU waiting area for quite a long while.
His cardiac doc came out and informed me, gently as he could, that my beloved had had a violent heart attack and had many blocked arteries (he placed two stents). 48 hours later two more. My hubby was in SICU for I think 4 days before they put him in his own room. Maybe 5 days.
So he’s recovering in the Cardiac Intermediate Unit, doing pretty well. On loads of meds, oxygen, and deemed a candidate by his doctor for open heart surgery and possibly a pacemaker that delivers shocks.
He’s to be fitted with a ZOLL LifeVest for being at home.
It made me sick to think I might lose my beloved. Just a type of shock and grief and sadness and nausea. Just stunned, like being popped and knocked across the ground by a strike of lightning.
Please pray for his healing. For all his meds to be 100% or near that from charge (no way I can pay for it: I’ve gotten in touch with Rx Outreach / doctor will communicate and direct which meds and dosages, etc). He has no insurance or benefits (has applied for SSD).
Jesus has been so very merciful and gracious and mighty and powerful and a Wonderful, Loving Father in all of this. I know He’ll keep us safe, my beloved John safe and taken care of.
God has helped me understand and be able to work with research and documentation and communication and learning, and I’m so Blessed to have the use of a PC and printer than can do pretty much everything I need done.
My husband so much needs someone who can do that right there, right with him, and because of The Lord I’m able to.
Jesus has already been lining folks up to guide us in getting things filled out, arranged, the right medical agencies / associations dealing with financial aid.
Thank you so very much for your prayers in advance.
From the bottom of our hearts❤️ we so much thank you. We’ll keep you posted.

I pray he will recover in good time and be back home soon.
Prayers for John to have a speedy recovery if that’s possible. Prayers for you and your family as well. So sorry to hear all this.
The support group “Mended Hearts” really helped my father in law following his heart attack and bypass. You and your husband might see about contacting them.
May God give wisdom to the docs and all others giving your husband care. May you be strengthened in the knowledge that no one is out of Gods’ view .May this dire situation draw both of you closer to the Lord and Saviour. May God grant both of you good health and longevity.
Praying for you!
Prayers for your husband to make a good recovery.
Hopefully some encouragement: My first heart attack was in 1990 when I was just a few days short of being 40 years old, 35 years ago. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, and I don’t take drugs. They didn’t believe me until the bloodwork came back. Plus, I had another one in 1997. I have 11 stents, but I’ve never had a bypass operation. Hang in there.
I’ve had a pacemaker/defibrillator since 2006 and I’ve been shocked a few times. I won’t lie, it hurts like hell, but it might save his life. If it goes off, take him to the hospital; don’t take no for an answer. The device stores data before and after a shock, so they can read that data for a better picture of what happened. The devices have to be changed out every few years because the batteries run down but that only takes an hour or so in the Cath lab.
If your husband is a veteran, sign him up for VA care. They’ll pay for everything, and any implant devices will be first rate. The copay for a $100,000 pacemaker/defibrillator is $0.00.
God bless and good luck.
Prayers for your husband. Talk to your husband’s doctor’s, pharmaceutical companies etc. It can be a lot of work but if you’re honest and upfront, you’ll be surprised as many have programs for low income folks to obtain their products or grants via the hospital for grants to purchase drugs, equipment etc. Best of luck.
Prayers up for the both of you.
