My daughter and I like to travel. We live in Spokane, WA, and are interested in in American history. Thinking about Savanna Georgia, But maybe some other place . I love New Orleans, where my grandmother lived but daughter does not think that's safe now
Cedar Point-—Sandusky, Ohio
18 state-of-the-art roller coasters!
I love Athens, had a great vacation in Greece.
Want to go someplace a bit closer to home.
We had a nice Searay aft cabin, and made several trips from Lake Erie, our home port up to northern Lake Huron, taking about two weeks. Twenty miles from Tobermory, Ontario we lost one of our transmissions, limping in. We were hung up there for five days waiting for a new transmission. At first we were devastated, our other boaters went on with the scheduled trip. Had nothing to do but live aboard, read books, cook, sightsee and wait, it was the most beautiful and relaxing vacation we ever had. Finally able to leave, went on to Killarney
Ontario which was like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting.
Massachusetts is my suggestion as well. A few days in Boston, few days on the Cape. Eat Lobster, whale watching and the national seashore.
This right here. Follow the Lake Michigan coast from Arcadia, Frankfort, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Leelenau Peninsula, Traverse City, up to Torch Lake, Charlevoix, Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Mackinac Island. There is nothing quite like a Michigan Summer.
I love Italy. Spent a month there several years ago. Visiting friends who live in a suburb of Rome. Now, I’d rather go someplace closer to home.
I did the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad a couple of times...that was cool.
Virginia? Interesting idea.
I second the nomination of the Great Smoky Mountains. Lots to do and see. Been going since the early ‘80s, it never gets old. Lots of history on the Cades Cove road.
Definitely go to the Black Hills of South Dakota to see Mt Rushmore, but plan your route to drive through Spearfish Canyon and see Devils Tower in Wyoming. Coming back to Minnesota across North Dakota go to the Mississippi River head waters in northern Minnesota
White House Tour in D.C. really jumps out at me. What a great idea!!!
A place real close to home for me is Seattle. Go to Pike Place Market and, from there, walk down to the piers for shops and lunch. Take the Seattle Center Monorail from Westlake Center (downtown) to the Seattle Center station, which is adjacent to the Space Needle. Walk over to the Space Needle and on your way experience the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum. Afterwards, walk over to the Space Needle and
take a nice elevator ride up to the observation deck at 520 feet. Have a drink at the Loupe Lounge while on a glass floor as the Space Needle rotates 360 degrees.
Seattle is great. I lived on Bainbridge Island for years, went to Seattle all the time. So really need a new place. Katy and I also spent a few wonderful days in Leavenworth, a “Bavarian” town near Seattle.
If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own backyard; because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it to begin with. Oh Auntie Em, there’s no place like home!
I would stay home, especially if a trip involves air travel.
I used to live near Washington, D.C. During the summer I would dream of Labrador. Really! Absolutely no kidding.
DC and the White House sound great. Thanks.
It SUCKS!
SOME ARE SAYING THAT IS A NATURAL WALL
I SAY-—NO WAY
IT IS MAD MADE
Might want to try northern Michigan. Spend time in the wine country in the Traverse City area and explore Mackinack Island near the bridge. A relaxing and beautiful area.
