My daughter and I like to travel. We live in Spokane, WA, and are interested in in American history. Thinking about Savanna Georgia, But maybe some other place . I love New Orleans, where my grandmother lived but daughter does not think that's safe now

Galveston?

1-2 days is enough in Galveston. Just don’t plan on going in the water on the beach. Very dirty.

Savannah is nice (brother lives there), but it’s a poor man’s Charleston. If I only could go to one, I’d go to Charleston. But if you have time, go to both

We went in mid May two years ago. It was chilly at night but all of the snow was gone. The weather was sunny and in the low 60’s during the day. It was very nice with a medium jacket.

I am not a fan of New Orleans. If you do go. Be sure to see the WW2 Museum. Figure all day and be sure to do the Tang experience.

You’ll like Spain. Laid back country. Tapas. Excellent wines. Siestas. Friendly folks.

In Sequim, did you see the live Olympic Game Farm where, from the comfort of your car, you can see animals like yaks, bison, brown bears, and llamas?

Sequim, Washington, is known for its fresh Dungeness crab, and you can find it in local restaurants and at the annual Dungeness Crab Festival, October 10-12, 2025 at the nearby Port Angeles Waterfront City Pier.

Jane wants to go to Spain....

Jane says, "I'm going away to Spain
When I get my money saved
I'm gonna start tomorrow
I'm gonna kick tomorrow
I'm gonna kick tomorrow"

And Daniel has already left.

Daniel is travelin' tonight on a plane
I can see the red taillights headin' for Spain
Oh, and I can see Daniel wavin' goodbye
God, it looks like Daniel
Must be the clouds in my eyes

They say Spain is pretty, though I've never been
Well, Daniel says it's the best place he's ever seen
Oh, and he should know, he's been there enough
Lord, I miss Daniel
Oh, I miss him so much

I’d do a cross country ride on my bike. No rush, whatever miles I want to cover each day. No budget.

8 years ago my wife and I did a 30 day car ride out west, much of it on old Route 66. I’d like to do a similar one on a bike by myself. See some of the stuff again, see other things we passed on that time.

Athens, Greece. I picked my restaurant meal by going into the kitchen and ordering from what was being cooked.

A wonderful thread. Enjoying so many memories in so many suggestions. Thanks to everyone sharing all these great places. Loved New Orleans and Charleston and Newport RI and Niagara Falls and so many places out west, including the ones I wouldn’t trust visiting again but love remembering.

Lisbon, Portugal. The people are so friendly. Have a good camera with a 18 to 55mm zoom lens and a 75 to 300mm zoom lens. Have a thumb drive to store photos.
